Hoping to provoke some discussion with this. If we were sentient beings created inside of an advanced computer simulation, would we ever be able to tell? What signs do you think we’d see? And…do you think we are?

We exist in 4 dimensions but only percieve 3 and made a machine that depending on how far along the 4th dimension we travel will tick forward, keeping count.

We experience a 3 dimensional shadow of our 4 dimensional world, and make up the difference with machines.

Think of yourself as a character in the Sims. The Sims exist in a 2 dimensional world, imitating a 3 dimensional world, with an artificial 4th dimension that can be sped, slowed, or stopped as their overlords please. This makes no difference to the Sim, who cannot percieve dimensions of space existing in a higher order beyond their own.

This is to say, we couldn't tell most likely, as well as we probably are.
