Lefty Memes
An international (English speaking) socialist Lemmy community free of the "ML" influence of instances like lemmy.ml and lemmygrad. This is a place for undogmatic shitposting and memes from a progressive, anti-capitalist and truly anti-imperialist perspective, regardless of specific ideology.
Serious posts, news, and discussion go in c/Socialism.
If you are new to socialism, you can ask questions and find resources over on c/Socialism101.
Please don't forget to help keep this community clean by reporting rule violations, updooting good contributions and downdooting those of low-quality!
Rules
0. Only post socialist memes
That refers to funny image macros and means that generally videos and screenshots are not allowed. Exceptions include explicitly humorous and short videos, as well as (social media) screenshots depicting a funny situation, joke, or joke picture relating to socialist movements, theory, societal issues, or political opponents. Examples would be the classic case of humorous Tumblr or Twitter posts/threads. (and no, agitprop text does not count as a meme)
1. Socialist Unity in the form of mutual respect and good faith interactions is enforced here
Try to keep an open mind, other schools of thought may offer points of view and analyses you haven't considered yet. Also: This is not a place for the Idealism vs. Materialism or rather Anarchism vs. Marxism debate(s), for that please visit c/AnarchismVsMarxism.
2. Anti-Imperialism means recognizing capitalist states like Russia and China as such
That means condemning (their) imperialism, even if it is of the "anti-USA" flavor.
3. No liberalism, (right-wing) revisionism or reactionaries.
That includes so called: Social Democracy, Democratic Socialism, Dengism, Market Socialism, Patriotic Socialism, National Bolshevism, Anarcho-Capitalism etc. . Anti-Socialist people and content have no place here, as well as the variety of "Marxist"-"Leninists" seen on lemmygrad and more specifically GenZedong (actual ML's are welcome as long as they agree to the rules and don't just copy paste/larp about stuff from a hundred years ago).
4. No Bigotry.
The only dangerous minority is the rich.
5. Don't demonize previous and current socialist experiments or (leading) individuals.
We must constructively learn from their mistakes, while acknowledging their achievements and recognizing when they have strayed away from socialist principles.
(if you are reading the rules to apply for modding this community, mention "Mantic Minotaur" when answering question 2)
6. Don't idolize/glorify previous and current socialist experiments or (leading) individuals.
Notable achievements in all spheres of society were made by various socialist/people's/democratic republics around the world. Mistakes, however, were made as well: bureaucratic castes of parasitic elites - as well as reactionary cults of personality - were established, many things were mismanaged and prejudice and bigotry sometimes replaced internationalism and progressiveness.
- Absolutely no posts or comments meant to relativize(/apologize for), advocate, promote or defend:
- Racism
- Sexism
- Queerphobia
- Ableism
- Classism
- Rape or assault
- Genocide/ethnic cleansing or (mass) deportations
- Fascism
- (National) chauvinism
- Orientalism
- Colonialism or Imperialism (and their neo- counterparts)
- Zionism
- Religious fundamentalism of any kind

*yours truly, a LW mod
Lmao, go for it!
Oooh! Oooh! Get him for report abuse now!
What did you hope to accomplish by reporting a mod?
Wow, Carlin was right when he talked about you people.
It's a big club and us non-mods aren't in it
(Pretty sure he was talking about internet moderators, who keep silencing me just for speaking truth to power)
As a queer person and a mod on lemmy.world, no it absolutely is not. Not even close. Not even in the same ballpark. An identity is 100% not the same as willingly choosing actions. You can disagree with the broad statement but equating it to bigotry is wildly out of touch.
Please don't use this analogy again.
No one was born as a LW mod.
Ah, I wasn't aware that I shouldn't demonize the imps crawling out of the pit of hell in front of me. It's only fair, they're only advocating for Satan - they aren't actually Satan himself.
You fucking donkey.
Silence, troglodyte
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/troglodyte
Sorry that you can't read buddy, here's the definition:
A troglodyte is a person who lives in a cave, or someone who is reclusive or has old-fashioned views.
Imagine being so fucking stupid 🤣🤣
Edit:
Your comment but better - 'I can't even recognize the word you tried to spell.'
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Edit: all words are made up, dipshit
Valid criticism is not demonization.
Also, please don't compare innate qualities with literal choices.
PS: Punctuation can be your friend
Actual criticism of people? Just as bad as being racist and bigoted!
Trump saying stupid shit? It's his right!
Liberals.jpg
This just in: LW mods win oppression Olympic gold over sexual minorities.
What a ridiculous comparison.
Same people who said criticizing political officials for their actions actually makes you a secret Trump supporter.

Thank you for engaging with my comment?
Once you see what that user is doing, it's absolutely hysterical. It's one of the few times I'll see comment threads and upvote everyone in them.
You should get some punctuation in there, man. Maybe a period, or a comma, or an exclamation point could help break up that endless flow of words.
They’re used to convey information and make text more readable, but sure, okay.
(addemdum: and now I saw their username. I think I just ate the onion.)
The reality is that complacency is complicity. I would agree that LW mods don't make up the instance rules, but if they are actively enforcing the rules instead of turning a blind eye then that is something that can be judged.
And this absolutely is not comparable to someone's sexual orientation lmfao. Judging based on someone's sexual orientation is bad. Judging someone based on the rules they enforce is 100% fair.
Inb4 of any bs that I'm advocating anything. I'm not. I'm speaking generally and I'm saying if you enforce a rule you inherently support that rule and those it defends in that context
It's absolutely okay to judge police for their profession, wtf are you on about? They chose the job they can quit whenever they want. They weren't born cops.
Reread what i wrote. I don't judge police officers for their profession
I judge people for their actions... the rules they choose to enforce.
If someone enforces bad rules, then yes, i will judge that and i won't rethink that.
No. I'm not. And I'm walking away from this conversation now because you are not engaging in good faith.
