Oh, I'm missing the point, of course, sending the disadvantaged to their deaths by a reactionary fascist regime is a small detail when you have the Upcoming Revolution(tm).
I mean, it's been Upcoming(tm) for decades now, but THIS time, with no organization, it'll happen; definitely, you guys! THIS time the blood of minorities will sanctify your efforts!
The genocidaires will make every move of any revolutionary more difficult and more costly by their control over the levers of power. It would have cost you next to nothing to help avert a genocide. And allowing the genocide will gain the revolution nothing.
And yet, here it is, ushered in primarily by the apathy of the American electorate; an apathy embraced and celebrated by would-be revolutionaries.
News flash: you were going to be sacrificed by the corporations anyway. Voting blue or red legitimizes the system, so if anything, you're the one elongating the struggle.
"Elongating the struggle"? What, do you want minorities to kill ourselves as fast as we can and get it over with, in the hopes that once we're dead, that tragedy will Inspire The Masses to give you your deeply desired revolution?
And you don't think this is already happening. Look at our prison systems, the wars we fund, the number of homeless people on our streets. Things are rotten to the core and good for you in your unbridled support of neo-librisism but I'm out, I will be active in meaningful political action at demos, door to door but I won't be pointing fingers playing this sad blame game you guys enjoy so dearly. And portraying this as me killing disadvantage people is so fucking rotten you should be ashamed. I know what its like to be homeless. How it feels for the education system to fail. The brutality of job security. The none existent programmes for mental health in the UK.

Yeah, if your response to looking at the Trump administration's openly declared desires and, even now, a fucking WEEK into this hell, already-passed executive orders, is to declare "Well this was already happening", there's not much to fucking talk about. Some of us are going to have our already-hard lives get significantly worse, and quite possibly end.
Every fucking day is a struggle, and seeing people who proclaim themselves as allies of the disadvantaged help flush what little we have down the fucking shitter? And then say that it doesn't matter?

Why don't you do something about it? I see lots of your posts. Mostly memes or the interesting history pics but you aren't a revolutionary, I can't imagine you canvassing, attending demos, mutual aid, building union power.

It's funny that you ask me what I'm doing to stop this, while playing apologist for people who actively worked towards the resolution of an actual fascist being put into power and an incoming genocide. Of course, the burden must always be on the victims; the perpetrators, their helpers and their apologists? Guilt-free. Not that they have any conception of guilt.

Fascism will happen with or without trump. Billionaire know what they want and they will buy it, this shift to popularism isn't organic, the crisis's we witness are brought to us by billionaires and they will scape goat with whoever they can buy.
Sorry to hear. Living with disabilities isn't easy and I'm similar in many ways although I am fully mobile I have had the odd interaction whilst at a door due to anxiety. Although I do take issue with believing people to be stupid. Most people are fed propaganda, lack critical thinking but anyone can learn. Some of Britain's greatest anti fascist 1940s were ex fascist's.
My "dazzling" is born through passion and a want for a just society. Posting here on Lemmy may empower other to do the same or to keep doing.
Okay? Assuming that's true, for the sake of the argument, how the fuck does letting Trump into office help any of that? The guy who openly promised fascism as fast as he can implement it?
People are often fucking stupid, man. Many are nice. But couldn't find their ass with both hands and a map. I don't think it's curable, only preventable. People calcify in their thinking patterns in their youth, regardless of when their opinions develop.
And generally, people don't change their values. I wouldn't trust an ex-fascist's (as in, a dedicated and politically aware fascist, and not some conscripted kid) political leanings for love or money.
A Trump victory has worsened our society on every level, and will make changing it harder on every level. Voters were asked to cast a single vote to keep things from taking a nose-dive for everyone, but for minorities in particular, and especially our LGBT brothers and sisters. To prevent additional genocides from breaking out in the world.
And yet that was too much to ask for millions of Americans. Maybe that should've been expected from most of them - most Americans do not have a good civic education, nor do they have strong political ideals. They don't care if fascism wins.
But that it was too much to ask from leftists, who supposedly and professedly were allies of the oppressed? They weren't asked to stop forming mutual aid groups, or assisting union efforts, or, fuck, for that matter arming or organizing themselves. They were asked for a vote. A day. Less than a day in many places. And they said it wasn't worth it. Stopping an open fascist suggesting genocide for minorities from being given control over all the power of the state wasn't worth it.
Do you not see why that is both immensely damaging to the lives of minorities and immensely infuriating whenever someone claims to be an ally and then says "What does fascism winning a bourgeois election matter? We have BIGGER issues to address"?
I'm not against voting if it helps your class interest. I also know that the small group that protested didn't let trump win they simply didn't vote. Same happened here in Britain were would be Tories voters protested and now we have the limp neo liberal labour party in power, still banning pubity blockers, still wanting to sell our NHS, doing fuck all to stop fascist party's like reform uk from taking power and spouting racist Nazi rhetoric. If anything our "left" wing party are going after activists.
The best we can do is act within the unions to organise counter demos to challenge the fascists. Historically fascism is lost in the streets. Not in politics.
I used to think Jordan Peterson was based. I lacked an understanding of materialism. Wasn't till I found out what cptsd was that it clicked, we are all products of our environments.
Is there a metric that actually shows leftist didn't vote? But either way I doubt anyone was okay with a trump win on the left. They simply didn't vote democrats.
