As someone who has been enjoying Rings of Power, I'm sorry, I actually really enjoyed the almost empathetic portrayal of orcs that care for their children and want what's best for their people. I really sympathized with Adar's lieutenant guy, not smart enough to take care of himself, a born victim, really.
I know anything different or not explicitly laid out is disliked, but I find it entertaining in adding depth to the enemy.
My main issue with the LOTR books was how black and white they are, the good guys are just good and never do anything bad, and the bad guys are just bad and never do anything good.
