Yeah, Firefox on mobile is great. It's horrible if I have to use stock Chrome for anything, ads everywhere, layers of ads, fullscreen popups, the horror

Just don't use stock Chrome then.

For me it only opens if I have to click some Wifi portal confirmation.

I used it for 10+ years, since it was called fennec. Unfortunately on mobile Firefox chews through battery (might be something with hardware rendering, since it isn't as smooth either). Across at least 5 devices.

A few years ago I switched to Samsung's browser (based on chrome). Better battery, smoother scrolling, address bar at the bottom... good enough for me.
