Knew someone who torrented just a few episodes of some series some years ago. The initial claims from the chamber of lawyers "Waldorf Frommer" was about 1000€ which could be reduced to a few 100€ by objecting. Just did a search for "kanzlei torrents" to see if that specific lawyers are still at it. Seems it's an industry now with initial demands going up to 2000€ and more.
Haven't torrented anything apart from linux iso's for years because of that.
