Especially since the whole framework of the ICC grew directly, if slowly, out of the ideas and structures of international law that were constructed to cope with the holocaust. The entire concept that, even if you were in charge of an army or fighting in one, there were still crimes so additionally monstrous that you could be held to account for them in a formal international framework, was invented because of crimes against the Jews in the 1930s and 40s.
Netanyahu is spitting on the memories of not just the dead Palestinian families he’s responsible for, but of millions of innocent Jews whose deaths laid the groundwork for the ICC he is now defying. I hope they catch him.
