Chronic Illness
A community/support group for chronically ill people. While anyone is welcome, our number one priority is keeping this a safe space for chronically ill people.
This is a support group, not a place for people to spout their opinions on disability.

Absolutely no ableism. This includes harmful stereotypes: lazy/freeloaders etc
-
No quackery. Does an up-to date major review in a big journal or a major government guideline come to the conclusion you’re claiming is fact? No? Then don’t claim it’s fact. This applies to potential treatments and disease mechanisms.
-
No denialism or minimisation This applies challenges faced by chronically ill people.

No psychosomatising psychosomatisation is a tool used by insurance companies and governments to blame physical illnesses on mental problems, and thereby saving money by not paying benefits. There is no concrete proof psychosomatic or functional disease exists with the vast majority of historical diagnoses turning out to be biomedical illnesses medicine has not discovered yet. Psychosomatics is rooted in misogyny, and consisted up until very recently of blaming women’s health complaints on “hysteria”.

As someone who is disabled myself... this is so true. When Kamala made it sound like that anyone who worked hard enough would be fine, all I could think to myself was, what about those of us who can no longer work? First, anyone on SSDI is most likely making barely enough for the average rent. Also, anyone that has had to deal with insurance companies knows that the insurance lobby controls policy regardless of party.
What does Kamala have to do with this? "Anyone who worked hard enough would be fine" is a republican talking point.
The idiot elect is going to further degrade your social nets because they believe youre a grifter.
I'm not sure if you ever heard her talk about her policy, but "if you're a hard worker and work hard enough, you'll be fine" was literally her talking point and policy. I don't disagree that Trump will be worse, but having dealt with SSDI & insurance companies, the problem isn't just Republicans. Everything wrong with America isn't just the doing of Republicans. Democrats pretending otherwise is one of the big reasons they lost this time.
Just curious, why do you use Trump's last name, but Harris' first name?
Tbf, I have that tendency just because the media put it in my brain.
She was only trying to cater to republicans who says she just gives out free money, in response to people saying she's a socialist/communist
Nobody thinks the democrats aren't at fault for stuff, it's ridiculous to ignore the nuance in this case.
