No we haven’t been here. Last time was just prep work for this. And we didn’t dismantle that work. We’re primed to efficiently implement the wishes of tyrants.
Exactly, last time the question of "can we just shoot the protesters" was answered with "no".
This time the answer is "obviously yes".
The answer is we shouldn't be protesting we should be doing other things that im not willing to detail in a public form.
It's wise not to share the details, but the broad strokes are important: Information is the game. Getting it, distributing it, analyzing it. Successful authoritarian regimes always strive to keep people uninformed, terrified and unable to act.
Defend the information networks at all costs. Only with good information can we effectively do those things that it's not wise to detail in public.
Well, we have been here before, but they picked the wrong comparison point.
The correct parallel is the Weimar Republic in the early 1930s.
And yes: I’m saying this is likely the inception of the first American Reich (or whatever it ends up being called), only this time it’ll be theocratic too, so the hardcore fanatics will also know they’ve got god on their side. Wcgw.
Or Mordor...
My bet is on Gilead.
While I don’t disagree, that’s fiction, not history. We’re talking about historical parallels.
I think once we start seeing people being dragged out into the streets, put into camps, or whatever crazy shit they plan on doing, that will be the time to make this kind of decision. Right now, there may be some kind of response that we can take that might help. It's a toss up right now, but just know, your life is valuable, and to not doing anything drastic until the first signs of the regime come into light.
For what it's worth to you, I do have a last ditch plan for myself if I truly do see this death march in action, but I will not enact it unless it is truly the last option I have.
Think of it like being diagnosed with cancer. It can be a death sentence but you can also recover with treatment.
We are facing the truth that nothing is permanent in history but change doesn't always mean death. It's very scary, but live your life. You have today, make it mean something.
Climate change: hold my beer
Climate change isn’t permanent. It has changed before and will change again. This will all sort itself out in the next several million years, you’ll see.
Unless you intend to live several million years, eternity might as well be 1000.
You're right, it will eliminate the life it needs to in order for the planet to continue living.
That means us.
What use is there in taking your own life?
If you cannot flee, then prepare to fight.
Look into local mutual aid groups and do what you can for those around you. That will go a long way to help you and your mental health, plus having a strong network means you can help when things start to get bad.
You're going to spend time and resources setting up hot meal deliveries for the elderly in your neighborhood, and then Skip The Dishes is going to lobby the government to shut you and everyone else with the same idea down because the elderly should just be paying them to deliver their food, and what you're doing is anti-business.
You're going to google John Brown Gun Club and that'll be enough for them to put you on a list for closer monitoring. If you actually attend a meeting you'll be picked up in an unmarked van driven by hand picked agents from the department of corrections and ICE.
a fair question
