Found this at home in England. I moved to England from Hong Kong not long ago, so I'm not familiar with local spiders at all. Maybe it's very common?

Looks like a giant house spider, Eratigena atrica.

They're completely harmless, the males do wander around looking for female, so it's not unusual to see them during the day.

On a side note, they're fast as all hell, fastest spider on land, so they can make you freak out when they zoom across a room at full speed.
