Harris isn't going to alienate 300,000 Jewish voters in PA for 20,000 Arab voters in MI.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/22/politics/jewish-voters-pennsylvania-election/index.html

"The American Jewish Population Project at Brandeis University estimates there are about 300,000 Jewish voters in the Keystone State. When you consider that Joe Biden won Pennsylvania by less than 82,000 votes in 2020, and Trump by about 44,000 votes in 2016, the margins matter."

The vast majority of Jews want the conflict to end, something that can be done by a US president with a phonecall.

Harris declaring that she'll end the war would be a boost across this demographic, and I'd assume many others.

The phone call must include the magic words, "or no more weapons"

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (2 children)

They don't need our weapons to shoot little kids in the head. Bullets are cheap.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/apr/02/gaza-palestinian-children-killed-idf-israel-war

It doesn't matter if we cut off the supply or not, they don't need our weapons.

Okay now turn in your brain and use it on this nonsense article....

How can a doctor know the identity and motive of the shooter by looking at a wound?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Caliber and location of the wound. Ballistics is a science.

Plus, it's not like anyone else is shooting Palestinian children.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Hamas rules Gaza by assassination and fear. They kill other Palestinians with guns and other things all the time. They shoot parents in front of their kids and vice verse to stay in power. The Iranian immamate and Qatari royals don't pay people to post about it online all day, though, so Al Jazeera doesn't write about it and Guardian doesn't retweet about it, and that's the truth of the matter. The evidence is staring you in the face.

Doesn't the idea of trained, uniformed soldiers, subject to a very robust, open legal system, as well as a military code of justice enforced by courts martial, sniping kids in the head for sport sound unbelievable? I posit that not only does it sound unbelievable, but that is actually is unbelievable; that if you were being rational, you should not and would not believe it.

No, no doctor anywhere in the world can determine the identity and motive of an individual from a bullet wound. This article's presumption to the contrary defies obvious logic and physics. Think about it for five seconds. Terminal ballistics has nothing to do with identifying the shooter or motive.

In no court of law in America would these doctors testimony be admitted as identification evidence or to explain motive, and you must know this to be true. Should read more critically, slow down.

I'm sorry, but reality absolutely disagrees:

https://www.oxfam.org/en/press-releases/more-women-and-children-killed-gaza-israeli-military-any-other-recent-conflict

We have eyewitnesses to Israeli snipers shooting kids, it is NOT Hamas doing this.

https://imemc.org/article/american-doctor-israeli-snipers-deliberately-targeted-palestinian-children-in-gaza/

"Q. Wait, you’re saying that children in Gaza are being shot by snipers?

A. Definitively. I have two children that I have photographs of, that were shot so perfectly in their chest I couldn’t put my stethoscope over their heart more accurately

. And directly on the side of the head, in the same child, no toddler gets shot twice by mistake by the world’s best sniper, and they are dead center shots."

To say nothing of other innocents:

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ridiculous quotes. The doctors in Gaza certainly have strong imaginations, that or magical powers.

Unfortunately, wild conjecture and speculation by people soliciting donations is not evidence.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Tell me this, how much personal experience do YOU have with sniper victims? None? Yeah, forgive me for taking the word of a medical expert over an internet expert.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

None.

This isn't about taking the doctor's medical opinion over someone without a medical degree and practical experience. Read the doctor's own words. What he is saying does not follow or make logical sense.

A doctor cannot distinguish two bullet wounds as from rounds aimed and fired by a sniper or two rounds fired by a drunk with a pistol, or by two stray bullets, or even by one stray bullet, or even by one piece of shrapnel, if it's through and through. Do you not know about bullets?

The ~~sniper~~ doctor said in his own words that his opinion was based on what cannot be described as anything other than wild speculation.

What the hell are these links, "visual capitalist" lmao

Please use academic sources. A US colony isn't going to survive without US support

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Links supporting what I'm telling you, depending on how you count it, Israel is the #8, #9, #10 largest arms exporter in the world.

Us telling them "Yeah, well, we're cutting you off..." means exactly nothing to them.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

man you're obstinant. Israel selling weapons tech doesn't mean they can produce the physical bombs, missiles, tanks they need to continue the war let alone defend from a coordinated counterattack.

Benjamin Miller says it best,

"Israel cannot work alone. It needs financial aid as well as backing in the international arena from some major power. China and Russia are certainly not partners and Europe is very critical of Israel these days, and sensitive in the humanitarian field. Australia and Canada are also not a real option, because their tendency towards us is similar to that of Europe.

What does the US provide Israel in terms of foreign aid as well as in the diplomatic arena, which we would have a very difficult time doing without? Firstly, there is the defense aid, which in normal times amounts to $3.8 billion annually, about NIS 14 billion (Israel's defense budget, without US aid, is NIS 65 billion annually in normal times.) Also on the agenda today is aid totaling $14 billion to support the war, which has not yet been approved by Congress.

Apart from the two aircraft carriers that the US sent here at the start of the war, to deter Iran and Hezbollah, it has also been frequently supplying Israel with artillery and tank shells and as well as bombs for aircraft. "If the US stops aid in the field of armaments," says Miller, "That's a huge problem for Israel, because it also needs to stockpile weapons in preparation for a possible war against Hezbollah. In such a case, we will need a huge amount of weapons."

No less important than the aid that the US gives to Israel, Miller stresses, is in the use it makes for our benefit of the veto it has in the UN Security Council. Thanks to the US, several resolutions regarding a ceasefire in Gaza were thwarted in the last few months alone. "Since October 7, the US has used the veto three times in our favor," says Miller.

Prior to October 7, it looked like Israel has additional partners in the international arena in China and Russia. Only last June Netanyahu was proud about being invited to visit China by President Xi Jinping.

"That was also another conception that Netanyahu had before October 7 that has been shattered. The conception was that Israel could maneuver between the three great powers - the US, China and Russia - and supposedly benefit from all worlds.

All they need to do that is money, and they have the money.

So, to re-iterate:

Netanyahu isn't interested in what we have to say, and isn't threatened by our cutting off support.

There are two ways the genocide ends:

  1. They kill every last Palestinian, devastate Gaza, Lebanon, the West Bank and, crap, throw in the Golan Heights too. Why not?

  2. Someone steps in, forcibly separates Israel from the Palestinians, and MAKES them stop.

Nobody has the political willpower for #2.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

please cite an academic or foreign policy expert that says israel survives alone.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Would you accept Netanyahu?

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/netanyahu-says-israel-will-stand-alone-if-it-has-to-after-u-s-threatens-halt-in-weapons-delivery

No? How about "Jerome M. Segal, retired as a senior research scholar at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy; he is president of the Jewish Peace Lobby."

https://archive.ph/AbSMT

"Israel’s per capita gross domestic product is over $40,000 — similar to that of France and Great Britain. We have defense commitments to them, but we don’t give them any military aid. To Israel, we provide around $1,700 a year for every Israeli family.

Israel has a vibrant economy that typically grows at over 3% a year. It’s GDP is over $400 billion, with U.S. aid only 1% of its economy. If we gave no assistance at all, just the amount of the annual expansion of its economy would cover the lost aid several times over. This aid program fails the needs test."

Can't refute the point? Of course not, because it's plain fact.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I don't know what to say. I'm giving you academic consensus from within Israel, and you respond with Netanyahu

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And an economics expert. Missed that did you?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

The econ professor is suggesting cutting off aid to encourage settlers to back off, and giving the money to Palestinian refugees. It's a bit tongue in cheek.

You're not going to find a serious person who thinks Israel can survive without a world power behind it.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (2 children)

So there a shit ton dumbass Arabs then? Do they have their heads up their ass? Seriously are we sure this isn't Russian trolls. No Arabian could Seriously think Trump will be better for them then Harris? Or is it a sexiest thing because she a woman?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago

A lot of Arab-Americans are Christians, who have a problematic relationship with Arab identity.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 month ago

They may be people who are opposed to the idea of a far-right, pan-islamist caliphate swallowing up the Middle East.
