It's easier to play legit than it is to cheat. I doubt many cheaters actually get caught, but like why risk it?
Cross-seed and autobrr. Should be enough to maintain ratios on pretty much any site excluding RED.
Just think of each site as a "game", each one has a set of rules to work inside of, most have "cheezy" strats to min-max ratio with little effort like permaseeding small torrents for bonus points that can be exchanged for ratio.
My go to strat. I already have a bunch of torrents so when I join a new tracker I run cross-seed, then I set up autobrr and grab the internal releases for new shows/movies.
I also have some script to auto-upload to some trackers.
Sadly you’re right about RED, only viable way to get upload on RED is to upload content
