Hey, mods? Mind explaining which parts of the comments you removed were "misinformation?"

Was it the part where I said the opinions of the people sending the bomb shipments don't change the genocide when the IDF uses them regardless?

Was it the part where I said the US brutally exploits the Global South with predatory IMF loans?

Was it the part where I called Israel a "settler-colonial" project?

Was it the part where I said the Democrats are supporting the IDF in committing genocide?

Or maybe it was the part where I said the US uses Israel to help secure the Petro-Dollar, and therefore doesn't care about the Palestinians at all, and hasn't since the 1940s?

Here's what Joe Biden has to say:

In 1986, then-U.S. Sen. Joe Biden said, “[Supporting Israel] is the best $3 billion investment we make. Were there not an Israel, the United States of America would have to invent an Israel to protect her interests in the region.”

Just want to know which part of that is "wrongthink" on Lemmy.world.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Probably the parts where you said "Biden has given Israel everything they want", which is blatantly false, and your statement that "They are doing the same amount of genocide", which cannot be meaningfully assessed when the genocide in Gaza only ramped up under Biden -- and there is good reason to believe that Trump would, in fact, be much worse.

The Dems are evil, but being dishonest about their flaws is foolish, unproductive, and deserving of censorship.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago

Re: your first source: Biden allowed some petty aid into Gaza while militarily supporting the genocide with everything they wanted. This is a gross misframing of what I said and minimizes the impact of the Palestinian Genocide.

Re: your second source: all this says is that Trump would not vocally call for a ceasefire, he would be honest about sending the bombs and take credit for it instead of acting like he's sad. This is also minimizing the impact of the Palestinian Genocide.

I was not dishonest about the Dems, I sourced nearly every statement, and yet you believe what I said to be so evil it should be censored as misinformation? Calling out the Dems for genocide is wrongthink? Absurd.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Well you did say that Dems and Republicans are supporting the same amount of genocide when clearly Republicans are the only one of the two supporting the genocide happening to the Ukrainian people.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (2 children)

We weren't talking about Ukraine, that much was obvious, pretending I was making a statement about Ukraine is peak dishonesty, especially when we are discussing censorship of calling attention to the Palestinian Genocide.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago

We weren’t talking about Ukraine

You people never do. Curious, that.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Huh... so talking about one genocide while ignoring another when comparing two political parties is ok? Interesting.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago

Every time this is brought up they always seem to side-step the issue, which to me- shows their true colors.

Genocide seems to be fine in one country. But not in an other where it can be politicized to polarize a political party.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

The context was that the Palestinian genocide has bipartisan support, along with the material conditions that go into that, and now the subsequent censure of that as "misinformation." Nothing to do with Ukraine, that's an entirely separate topic.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago

Isn’t genocide the same thing as genocide though? Or is it that one is different than the other if it can be used to divide a political party?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Its lemmy.world. Admin are Nazi sympathizers at BEST.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Feel free to call names, but calling us Nazis breaks a rule. Don't attack people. Attack ideas.

Please edit before I'm forced to remove.

Also, if you hate us, why do you post here? Not asking you to leave, just honestly wondering.

Mods are humans, and we aren't extremists. We just try to keep the place civil. I'm used to getting shat on, but not all mods are as thick skinned. Maybe try not being an asshole?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (2 children)

It's funny you say that, because almost every rebuttal I see from .world users is just ad hominem and refusing to engage with the extremely valid criticism.

You can disagree about voting strategy all you want, but denial of genocide is fucked up and pretending democrats are anything but enthusiastic supporters is literally a dismissal of objective reality.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 days ago

No you don't understand, name calling and body shaming from liberals is cool, memes and accurate criticisms from leftists is bad and needs to be banned.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It’s funny you says that because in .ml, Hexbear and the other socialist instances, people are banned for just being “liberal” and “Blue MAGA”

You’re free to take your money elsewhere if you aren’t happy with how moderators chose to keep the discussion civil.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I don't recall commenting on the behaviour of any of those users, I was trying to say that the "attack the ideas" line is basically ignored when .world users try to engage with leftists, I never said the socialists were perfect either, forgive me if I implied as much.

And yes, I do have a problem with mods using their power to suppress dissenting opinions in order to deny genocide, I think that's an entirely reasonable position for me to take.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I have problems being called a Nazi.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Well don't be one. There's comments on here I can't see from people who have other comments on here that are perfectly reasonably stated, with sources, that seem to do nothing but dissent with your own opinion.

Makes me wonder why those comments were deleted. You try to censor free speech just because it doesn't agree with your own ideas and you're no better than Xlon Muxk

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

You come here and complain about how things are handled all without seeming to bother to see how fairly it is moderated here. I was simply pointing out the opposite end of the spectrum.

It wasn’t my intend to comment aggressively if it came off that way. But…

On .world, you get to speak your mind (or at least in the larger communities that are more organized) if only via a request to follow a few basic rules of civility. I never see mods removing comments or entire accounts because they don’t like the narrative, and for the record, I see a LOT of things reported that I disagree with, but don’t act on because they're within the rules. And there’s probably a lot more than you know. But it will always seem biased from your perspective if you don’t know how or where to look.

And for the sake of debate, let’s try this:

if we are to divide the two sides and call .world a liberal instance, (which it seems is what you’re trying to do) then we must be fair to look at ml/Hexbear as the opposite side and consider the argument:

They will straight up BAN you for disagreeing with the narrative. Seemingly every day- I see arguments that in no way break the rules get removed. Some for reasons as bold as “Blue MAGA,” others for no reason at all.

So I’ll say again, if you think asking for a few simple rules to be followed is unfair. The door is all around you. And you’re free to use it. Though I’d rather you stay and keep the discussions going.

It’s okay that we disagree. Just remain within the same rules we all follow and we’re all going to be good.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I think this has gone beyond my point so I'll just state that I don't have any issue with requiring civility, I didn't intend to imply anything like that or to take issue with moderation in general, sorry.

I specifically take issue with moderation that minimises and denies an issue that I'm extremely passionate about, but that's it.

I don't disagree with your points on the socialist instances, I'm not a socialist and I'm not on those instances, mine is even defederated from hexbear.

My intention was just to point out that the conversation around this issue has, in my experience, been largely a case of ad hominem (as this post literally is) rather than any well meaning good faith discussion.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago

Thank you. And again, my apologies if I came of as aggressive. We get accused of bias so often here and sometimes it really flies in the face of what we’re trying to do. Especially if you look at how it is elsewhere.

Thanks again.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I think it's really funny that you claim all this when the top level comment is a clear account of the mods censoring comments that don't fit the Liberal narrative.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Nothing is being censored. There’s a ton of pro-socialist memes and comments here, so don’t cast aspersions where there are none.

All are welcome to post if they remain within the rules. You are posting opinions as facts and that is why your comments were removed.

You’re posturing and grandstanding.

We removed posts/comments that do this regardless of which side they lean toward.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I clearly disagree.

You are posting opinions as facts and that is why your comments were removed.

Can you explain in more detail? Which opinions were postured as facts in a manner that breaks .world's rules?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

And you are free to disagree. If you want to reword your comments with things like “I think” or “it appears to me as if” then no one would have a problem as this is merely your opinion, and opinions can’t be classified as misinformation and removed- as long as they remain civil.

But again, posturing and grandstanding with accusations that are at best a rearrangement of information is not debate in good faith.

I will not argue this further.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This isn't an argument, I am asking for clarification. I'm not trying to "win." Which statements need an "I think" or "it appears to me as if?" Personally, it looks like I am being directly discriminated against, because other commenters get away with the same phrasing but with pro-Dem messages, I don't see those phrases in every comment yet only few comments get removed, like mine.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago

I know, but this was especially mask-off.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Thank you for always doing a good job posting.
