A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.

Are people who bought Teslas, some probably for laudable climate ends, now disgusted to drive their car every day? Or are people still buying them and it's not yet hit home where their dollars are going...or other? Are people selling them due to political reasons now?

Just because not everything needs to be political doesn't mean things that are inherently political stop being politically consequential when you say it doesn't have to be.

Elon in particular has used his wealth to overtly become a political figure. His political power comes from his wealth. Therefore supporting his wealth through your economic choices inherently supports his political activity.

Yah, when your brain is mush with political stuff, this is logical. Except it isn't - people buy cars to drive them, they look at the price, design, color, performance, prestige. Nobody sane would get rid of a car, lose on the sale a lot, to have to buy another car, because the CEO of a company that makes your car is a weirdo. Otherwise why are you buying any car - every manufacturer has a shitton of bad things on their conscience. You don't sell a Toyota, but a Tesla somehow makes it make sense?
