Eventhough there is no audience (or theatrics and lightshows Pink Floyd is known for), this is the kind of live sessions I like. Just as I rather watch Radiohead live from the Basement than their Glastonbury shows.
Echoes part 1, after that climax around 11 and a half minutes, when that drum and bassline kick in, that's some heavy grooves right there.
So good
I agree with you. The filmmakers want to show the audience and I don't go to a concert to watch the people around me. You watch the Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter, which was made a couple of years earlier, and it's like 30% shots of the audience. Yeah, nice to see you're having the great time I wish I could have been having.
That said, without those sorts of films, and sticking with Floyd, I would never have seen the spectacle that was The Wall Live in Berlin, so I'm glad both exist.
You where there at the concert or seen it on film?
I remember watching Pink Floyd's concert in Venice, minus Waters, live on Dutch television. Seeing the audience in boats and all, I wish I was there that day.
Seen the film. I've never seen them live, unfortunately.
You actually said it in a quite comprehensive manner,I should read better. Heh.
