Journalists are in Whatsapp broadcast groups handled by the teams. RBR press officer sent a message into his group confirming the floor damage.

Not just a Sky thing, quite a few F1 journos are in those groups.

Weird then that this did not reach the f1tv commentary team.

Well they would need someone to look at WhatsApp during commentary, easily possible that the F1TV team felt too busy to do that
