Commenting so I can follow thread, I have been using 1337 for a good few years and has no idea it got into the bad books.
~~As far as I can recall, EMPRESS called them out for linking malware to her crack releases. Please someone correct me about its details as I don't fully remember it.~~
Edit: Looked it up, there was a torrent with a bitcoin miner injected that 1337 mods appearently didnt remove which caused the whole ordeal.
1337x.to is generally fine to use, just be sure to check the notes on the Megathread and use your common sense.
What I'm referring to is the Baldur's Gate 3 fiasco. I don't know how things panned out, but people were turning away from it at the time. Admins were aware/involved as far as I ~~know~~ remember.
All software from torrent sites should be treated with a wary eye.
