I have used freetube on windows. I assume adblock is in browser context here, so freetube should skip the browser completely.

I'm using Linux right now, and glad to see they have it on Flathub. I think I'll give that a try now! EDIT: I really like it, actually!

I hadn't realised it had been compiled for desktop. I've mainly been using it(well rather the fork with SponsorBlock) for a while now on Android since I can't just simply adblock the main app on an unrooted phone.

You might consider looking at invidious.

It wraps up youtube content such that you see 0 ads, have 0 tracking, and a much better overall experience. As well it lets you connect to other content like stuff hosted on peertube.

It looks like FreeTube actually has the option to route through invidious for all of those benefits. That's really cool!
