When will these NIMBY cities finally approve & fund grade separation of all railroad tracks Caltrain years that date from the 1800s?

NIMBYs suck but it’s not NIMBYism at work here.

Converting intersections to be grade separated costs millions of dollars and isn’t something cities want to pay for. Tunnels ain’t cheap.

Suburban cities are reluctant to pay for any improvements to transit period. There's a reason why the BART doesn't extend past Millbrae. It's always a combination of rich owners who don't want "them" having easier access to their cities, and rich owners who have a comfortable driving commute and don't want money spent on others.

So yes, not technically NIMBYism, but it's the same "fuck you, I got mine" attitude from existing property owners that blocks a lot of funding for transit.

“fuck you, I got mine”

The source of some of the biggest problems of the nation, not just the Bay Area. We have so many resources but a refusal to share even a little bit makes us all worse off.
