Those idiotic tariffs in the EU and US just mean that in every other place in the world the market will be dominated by Chinese EVs. Meanwhile, European and US cars can only be sold domestically where there is a captive market. That will lead to less innovation and higher prices. In essence the European and US consumers are paying the bill for the unwillingness to change of their domestic industries.

It makes no sense. They're cool with fucking over every other industry by outsourcing production to China over the last several decades, but as soon as cars are involved, gotta protect the big 3.
