This is Zen Browser. A firefox based browser that looks beautiful, is open source and gives you amazing qol features like split tabs and much more without a heavy AI overtone.

This browser also supports Mods/Themes via the Zen Store. My current setup is created by using those mods. Details in the comments.

I made a GitHub Gist that has all the Enterprise & LTSC links in one place. Hope you can download it easier!

It's been a long time but It finally happened, I've been compromised. Like an idiot I reused passwords and they got into most of my accounts. I've changed 300 different passwords and recovered all except one account, my Facebook, which I'm being told is unlikely I'll ever get into again.

This is probably from a data breach, I'm in a few, however, I still want to do a wipe of my PC, but it's been a few years and I don't remember the best practices.

This is a long time coming though because as well as simply possibly being compromised my PC has been experiencing a myriad of errors and annoyances, such as random entire system stutters, apps crashing out of nowhere and general performance slowdown.

Luckily I've got about 7 drives all holding various things, but the entire OS is on the tiny NVME C drive, as well as program installations. IIRC I can factory reset without losing data on the other drives but this one will probably be wiped yes? Is this enough for security though? I would imagine most malicious files would be completely removed by reinstalling the OS but I want to make sure no other avenues exist.

Also what is best practices this day and age to do a clean reset? Thanks guys

Windhawk is a free, open-source app that functions like an app store for Windows mods, allowing users to customize almost anything about their Windows experience easily.

Users can browse and install a variety of mods that range from visual tweaks, like changing the taskbar style, to functional changes, such as modifying taskbar volume controls or disabling grouping of taskbar icons.

Each mod includes a caution to review its source code on GitHub, ensuring users can make informed decisions before installing any customizations.

There appears to be no straightforward way to permanently stop Windows 11 Home from rebooting on its own after installing updates. I looked for workarounds but so far I have only found a script that has to run on a schedule to block the reboot by changing "working hours". (Link.)

Is that really the best that is possible?

The arbitrary limit is finally being removed.

Here's the link.

GitHub Page of the original creator.

How I did it:

Took the png files from the github repo and used a software called RealWorld Cursor Editor to create these.

You'll have to install manually as idk how to write the install file.

Winget (Better than Ninite)

Terminal application manager for windows. If you don't want to bother too much with the terminal

  1. Go to winstall.app and add as many apps as you want.
  2. Click generate script, select powershell, copy the code.
  3. Open powershell and copy paste.

I have my script saved on a notepad incase I have to reset windows or set up a new PC, turns something that takes hours into something that takes minutes.

Winstall App

Filelight (Better than WinDirStat)

It is open source (Made by KDE Devs), faster and better looking.

Filelight You can hover over each subsection to get more details

Flow Launcher (Better than windows search)

Open source, looks better, searches your apps, settings, control panel AND google instead of bing, gives better results and allows blacklisting and alot more.

Flowlauncher

KDE Connect (Better than Phone Link)

Well better for Non Samsung users. Gives you

  • Notifications
  • Air Drop
  • Clipboard Sync
  • Remote Shutdown/Any Command and more.

KDE Connect

ShareX (Better Than Clipping Tool)

Has more options, has the ability to only copy to clipboard and not save. Is what I'm using to write this right now.

ShareX

Playnite (Better than Steam/Gog Galaxy IMO)

  • open-source,
  • supports theming,
  • automatic metadata serach,
  • supports multiple stores,
  • has emulation support out of the box
  • and huge plugin library for extra functionality.

Playnite Switch, GBA, NES, PC, DS it is all here.

Mica For Everyone (Better Than Windows)

Adds Black/White Titlebars based on your theme choice or manual choice.

Edit: Using Mica used to cause artifacts it is fixed now.

Mica For Everyone

This is what KDE connect looks like without MFE :C

ModernFlyouts (Better Than Windows)

Better Volume/Key Notification. IT ALSO TELLS YOU IF YOUR NUM LOCK IS ON. Underrated.

Modern Flyouts

Will My PC Burn Keeping So Many Things in the Background?

I can't close Firefox or I'll lose my post sorry :(. Also ShareX for SS (Takes about 1%)

Disclaimer: I have 16 GB DDR4 Memory and I have only closed the utilities mentioned in this post.

When they talked re Teams and Discord, I thought of a meme. Windows will just be Edge in 100 years. All the apps will be web apps. Someone may have made that meme already.

Thankfully Windows didn't force Onedrive on me. I've preferred saving files locally. For my cloud files, I've mainly used Dropbox and Google drive.

I hope Windows will focus on user experience.

Ok, so maybe a weird question: I've got two windows PCs on the same network. One of them is, when not in use, almost always in sleep mode. The other PC is only turned on every now and then.

I've narrowed down the issue to the fact that when this second PC is started, the first PC seems to always wake up from sleep. I've not enabled any wake on LAN features on either computer, and as such I'm a bit lost on where to go next. Any ideas?

If I remove Edge, Will there be any consequences?

Flashback:

I removed edge and onedrive using Chris Titus Tech's Winutils. In the tool itself they mentioned that removing edge is not recommended. But I did it anyway.

Now for some reason, my library folders (music, videos, etc) reset to their original location. ( I changed it to a custom location).

All I have to do is change it back to custom location. ( No data loss happened).

But what I want to know is that, Are there anymore consequences that I am not aware of?

The "All Apps" menu in Start may soon get a couple of new layout options.

Highlights for Windows 11, versions 22H2 and 23H2 (normal rollout):

  • This update addresses an issue that affects Group Policy. It fails to detect when a network’s speed is slow. Instead, it assumes that a fast link is present.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) and Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA).

Highlights for Windows 11, versions 22H2 and 23H2 (gradual rollout):

  • This update affects OneDrive. You can use it as a RemoteApp in Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • This update changes the units for DDR speed from MHz to MT/s.
  • This update adds a new Game Pass recommendation card on the Settings home page.
  • This update puts the show desktop button on the taskbar again by default.
