First of all, welcome!

If you haven't already, please read the sidebar for the rules etc. If possible, alongside posting a generic YouTube or Bandcamp link to a song, if you could post links to other services you use (such as Spotify) then it makes it easier for people to listen on their preferred platform. This isn't essential, but I think it makes it easier for everyone to access the music and listen the way they want to.

And if you want to be a real saint, you could remove unnecessary parameters from links 😉 (though I don't expect everyone to go to that much trouble).

Enjoy some good fucking music! 🤘

Slayer classic. RIP Jeff Hanneman

What a beautifully strange blend of atmospheric melodic black metal and technical thrash metal. This is very thought provoking and introspective. I was impressed to say the least, so much so that I had to make this my pick here today.

One of the first and best crossover albums! Super iconic riff on this song. See this video for an amazing live performance of this song and March of the S.O.D. and one of the craziest stage dives ever!

YouTube, Spotify, metal-archives

EDIT: I can see from the downvotes that some people are misunderstanding the post/aren't part of the thrash community. The album is satirical, the songs written from the perspective of the character and bigoted militant "Sargent D". It is meant to be over the top to show how ridiculous those types of people are. S.O.D. is a joke side project created in a bit of spare time in the studio that took off as one of the first crossover albums, and the earliest representations of blast-beats. It was a side project of Scott Ian from Anthrax who is definitely not racist and has made many songs against racism in his time in Anthrax and he writes the lyrics for Anthrax. Ok, rant out of the way, I can see why it generates bad reactions, which is sorta the point of it I guess.

Sorry for this. Every once in a while this song worms its way back into my head (at least the beginning minute or so) and gets stuck till I play it. And I cringe a lil every time, since I'm older now, idk I feel like I've outgrown it lol.

So suffer a little with me today as my pick is this thrash metalcore track.

Bet you weren't expecting this post from me! Now I've finished Tankard, my quest through the big 4s have taken me back to Megadeth. I've decided to give them another chance, wish me luck! I must admit I'm really enjoying the riffs, shame about the terrible vocals.

I really resonate with the lyrics to this song, except the "loving life" part ;). Goofy vocal performance, though I think it might be purposeful to fit with the topic of the song. I consider it thrash but I think it has lots of heavy metal/hard rock influences.

Great opening track with some tight songwriting, everything just gels together so nicely.

Also fuck Trump, Vance, Musk and anyone who enabled them to get this far. Fuck capitalism in its entirety, I did not consent to take part in such a central pillar of fuckery that we are all a part of.

Sorry for the rant.

This track is pretty standard and by the numbers as covers go, but you also have a guest vocalist by the name of Maciej Taff, who fronts the band Black River, a Polish heavy/stoner metal group also based in Warsaw. Not terrible but I do wish it got the usual treatment from Vader vocalist Piotr Wiwczarek.

Post 2 of 2 from this album. Decided to post two given the short length :D.

Possibly one of my favourite MW albums alongside... well... all of their other albums? I fucking love all of their material. I suppose if you put a gun to my head and forced me to say which albums I liked the least it would have to be Electrified Brain or Massive Aggressive. This has to be one of the most energetic 15 mins in all of thrash. Makes me wanna break shit like nothing else I heard.

Melodic death thrasher favorite of mine. Original version with Tomas Lindberg of At the Gates, which is better in my opinion. Was rerecorded later as the band was supposedly unhappy with the production and had issues with Lindberg. Glad they keep both versions up for sale on the bandcamp lol.

Single from Warbringer's 2018 album, a mid-paced march that is once again poignant. And will be more so in the near future.

Again I post a death metal origin - quite possibly THE death metal origin, with heavy deep roots in thrash metal. Classic and evil, this needs no introduction. Enjoy some more history today.

After many, many hours I've finally made it through Tankard's huge discography. It is clear Tankard had found a formula that works extremely well, and has stuck with that ever since. There is little variation between albums and with the sheer number of songs, you are bound to have songs beginning to sound the same, especially if their trademark style is applied to all of their material. In my opinion, Tankard have now just about exhausted their style, I'm not sure how many more variations can be created that still sound fresh.

That being said, you have to applaud their consistent output, having not a single bad release, despite having 18 albums to their name (19 including their compilation re-record). Tankard's commitment to releasing nothing but straight up fun, enjoyable, light-hearted thrash is downright impressive. People have a tendency to complain about little variation in a band's discography, which I understand, but if you are that desperate for change, simply listen to different bands once in a while - there are plenty of them.

Overall, I love Tankard's flavour of thrash, and their unfaltering energy. Though admittedly in their last couple albums I did feel myself listening mostly out of motivation to finish the entire discography. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. To others I would recommend listening to their first few albums at a minimum, which were the standouts for me. From there, listen to more, whenever you crave their style.

I leave you with my favourite track from their latest album.

Crossover time! Specifically of the Brazilian kind. Super catchy and if I understood Portuguese I bet the lyrics would slap with politically charged humor.

This track is probably the best thing to come out of Metallica in recent years. Channeling their thrash roots mixed with their hard rock years (like when ReLoad opened with Fuel), but this is actually decent enough. It does go on for a bit too long in my opinion, they absolutely could have cut a bit of meandering grooves here and there; the lyrics are pretty good, though.

Love the vocals on Skeletonwitch, new material aside (Chance, the vocalist left). I think he can do good death and black metal vocals and switch interchangeably really well. This song and entire album is a beautiful blend of extreme metal genres.

True visionary Quothorn started this album off with an epic sound, a vast field with images of vikings and other glorious things, but at it's heart it truly is brutal black/thrash. This is the third track, quite the whiplash upon first listen - the thrash bears its fangs from here to the title track of the album lol. Enjoy this piece of history today. RIP Quothorn o7

Superb death thrash. Not to be confused with Schizophrenia, the blackened thrash band from Colombia. These guys are death thrash from Belgium.

My number one favorite song from this phenomenal album, had to post from this one again kinda soonish after my previous post about it lol. The first three minutes are creative perfection.

Opening two tracks from their Endgame album, a melodic short instrumental quickly leading into typical thrash fury. Certainly A LOT better than their few releases before this one!
