If anybody is interested, Amazon seems to be running a sale on my wife's Science Fiction novels right now! I'd tell you how great they are, but I'm probably biased.

EDIT: Also wanted to come back and mention that Kindle Unlimited Users can read her first book for free! https://www.amazon.com/Hellhound-Siege-Engine-Suzanne-Brodine-ebook/dp/B07T57V4YC/

I thought this group might be interested. My wife happens to be a budding Science Fiction writer. We've been hitting up a lot of cons to help sell her books and get her name out there. If you want to check out her book, please do so.

Can anybody recommend some good conventions we could get a booth at? We're located in South-Central Nebraska, so anything in a day's drive or so would be great. (Hard to fly with all the book stock we have to bring with)

What are some of your favorite scifi book authors, and books by them?

Alastair Reynolds has written on of my favorites ever, House of Suns, and I really like the lore of his Revelation Space universe. I especially enjoyed the spinoffs exploring the Yellowstone demarchy centered around Panoply.

Inhibitor Phase ended up a weaker entry, imo, charachters that felt a bit too much like Mary Sues. Like mere excuses to exposition dump about the universe itself. Which did enjoy immensely. Still I would much rather have seen some large scale change occur, rather than a the mere zoom-in on some catalytic events.

I'm enjoying this AMC show so far - and would say it is the best SF airing currently - that I am aware of.

I have not read the books but my SO has read the first of them and is also enjoying it. She can't recall a great many details from the book though - her memory doesn't work that way.

One tiny point that I am curious about - a detail that my SO doesn't remember - is whether the characters who have seen the Pez dispenser actually recognise duck as a duck? Do they know what ducks - or birds in general - are?

From episode 1, IIRC, it seems to be suggested that they did not understand what the things flying in the sky in the outside world were.

Anyway - what are your thoughts on Silo?

It's interesting in that we have things that feel very scifi (GotG, for example) and ones that don't (Luke Cage, Punisher) notionally sharing the same universe.
