Piano And Keyboards

Post your piano/keys stuff here. Ripping some Chopin, Beethoven, Bartok, or whoever? Love it. Just got a new Hammond and rotary speaker and want to show it off? Can't get enough of it. Got a band with a really awesome keyboardist, and want to show them off? Gimme it. Stuck in the orchestra pit with nothing to do for three hours waiting for your one moment of celesta glory on The Magic Flute? I feel your pain. Just discovered Oscar Peterson and want to share your astonishment? Fam, same. Learning piano and got noob questions? I'm here for it. Got an original DX7 and want to show us all how to program new voices? I've actually never figured that out, can you teach me too?

  2. Self-promotion is encouraged, but try to also post stuff that isn't you.
  3. Be cool about giving and receiving feedback. When in doubt, see r1.
  4. Having fun is mandatory.

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for a good app that allows you to practice custom-created sheet music (e.g. via MuseScore). The problem is all the apps I found so far support custom sheet music but they don't listen to a midi input to verify how accurate my playing was (e.g. what Playground Session does for their library).

I started playing inside a video game that had a full fleged piano lol and now I am addicted. I can play pirates of Caribbean pretty good and I am very proud ahah

I used to play piano when I was a kid and I want to get back into it now that I'm older. I think I have more patience for it now, but I don't have room for a large keyboard. I'm thinking of a small midi keyboard like a oxygen pro mini or mpk mini plus. Do they need to be plugged into a computer to work or can I just connect headphones to them directly? I know these are stupid questions, I'm sortof new at all this. If they have to be connected to a computer, are they compatible with linux, are there any good linux apps to use with them? I don't mind small keys, and I do prefer nice key feel over more midi features. I'm probably not gonna record anything.

Lemme know if this is the wrong place to ask this.

Thanks.

Hello!

My 5 years old kid has been taking piano lessons for a few months and he seems to enjoy it.

I'm thinking of buying a piano for him so that he can practice at home. However, I don't know much about pianos and I'm not sure what to buy.

I'm looking at digital pianos mostly since they look cheaper and I don't have much space at home anyway. I did a bit of research on the internet and I understand I should be getting one with weighted keys. Beside that, I don't know what brand or model to pick.

Do you have any piano recommendation for a kid who is just getting started?

Thanks!

Crazy player piano piece. If you haven't heard it, now you have.

I’m looking for something near Cincinnati if possible or a good online alternative. I want to be able to buy the actual paper music instead of printing it.

Does anyone have a digital piano they'd recommend?

I've been missing playing since I moved to my current place, and would like to get back into it. I'd rather spend a few extra bucks now and get a nice one that will last.

This channel is filled with all kinds of great covers, but this is one of my favorites. So simple yet beautiful

How long does it take you to get from never seeing a sheet before to playing at the recommended tempo? Just wondering what's typical.

It typically takes me several weeks at a minimum, with the caveats that I have little time for practice and am self-taught because I don't have money for a teacher.

My process is this: practice each hand independently in chunks, bring each hand up to the 'normal' tempo, then put the hands together at sloooow tempo and gradually raise the tempo. The last part takes the longest. Does anyone have suggestions for improving my process?

Casiopea is one of my favorite bands right now and Minoru Mukaiya is a god amongst keyboardists.

I covered an underrated gem that even Bill Wurtz fans sleep on. I hope I did it justice.
