Seit dem @jetbrains die Updates mittels Toolbox macht kommt es immer wieder zu Problemen: Erst Update Pfad nicht beschreibbar 😶

Behoben durch Neuinstallation.

Nun "Update is paused: Tool files are in use" 😵

Is there a way to open a folder (a project) from terminal like in VS Code where you can

cd path/to/project
code ./

And VS Code opens up with that project (directory) ready

How do I get Webstorm to format with prettier on save? There's the manual "reformat with prettier" command that works like a charm, but how do I trigger it on save?

@jetbrains,
do you have a learn #goland video series anywhere. the goland playlist on youtube is a muddled list of very interesting things I could do with things *in* goland

is there a structured set of videos, that I could use to get familiar with my editor? I have a yearly subscription to all the editors.

Oh, this is good. Chrome disabled the old one for me about a week back. Good work, @jetbrains and @phpstorm https://techhub.social/@phpstorm/114160062265790455

Why does #JetBrains #Rider's auto completion always takes the most complicated things, but not the var names from a line above?

@jetbrains has a really bad habit of not documenting their APIs so even in their own IDE, most of the time, when I bring up quick documentation it's nothing but the method signature. I wonder if they assigned CTRL-Q to it just so people would balk at habituating a shortcut that usually would quit. In my keymap quick doc is F1.

Hey @pauleveritt @jetbrains, am I understanding correctly that only these 4 IDEs (see attachment) offer a free license for Open Source developers?

I'm interested in PyCharm as I maintain mostly Python projects.

"AI" autocomplete in @jetbrains IDEs is worse than a useless

its like an interruption machine with every keypress

I hate it so much and have to hunt through settings to kill it

It's disappointing to see Azure Data Studio disappear, but this does explain the dearth of updates over the past few months.

I find the VS Code extension experience more awkward, so maybe this pushes me to DataGrip from @jetbrains

Thank you @jetbrains for nothing, I guess?

Slapping AI on everything is super-uncool. 👎🏾

Besides, couldn't older versions of IDEA/Goland could properly detect AND FIX mixed value and value initializers?

Well it's officially official now that I've joined @jetbrains to work as a #python Developer Advocate on @pycharm
Here is a short post with a little more info on me and what I hope to do in this new role.

The new AI plugins for coding are REALLY spooky. I mean, I type in 2 letters, and it burps out a block of exactly what I was thinking. Even if it wasn't totally obvious.

It really freaks me out.

Looking at you, @jetbrains

I heard a snippet from one of the @TWiT podcasts in my feed this morning.

The dude was talking about using AI for coding.

I have to say that I agree. This is some serious black magic. I use the AI plugin in @jetbrains products for various languages.

Somehow, after a few keystrokes, it will create fully functional code blocks that do what I need to do, and in the vernacular of whatever language/framework I am using.

Very creepy.

Theory is important, but I’m a strong believer in getting your hands dirty (i.e., writing your own code) as soon as possible! To make this a pleasant experience when #LearningRust, you should pick up the IDE that is best for you.

After some experimentation, I settled with RustRover by @jetbrains. It offers a delightful user experience and it’s free for non-commercial use. You should check it out.

Another popular choice is Visual Studio Code equipped with rust-analyzer and other specialized extensions such as Even Better TOML and Prettier Rust.

New @jetbrains State of Developer Ecosystem Report 2024 puts #rustlang among the 2 most promising languages – we couldn't agree more 🙌

This Thursday, I gave a presentation about @biomejs at the @jetbrains office in #Amsterdam. It was great to hear all the positive feedback about our project, and anecdotes from both users and people who may become our users 😊 It was nice talking to you, and I’ll get happily back to hacking towards Biome 2.0 👨‍💻

«How to Learn Rust in 2024: A Complete Beginner’s Guide to Mastering Rust Programming»
– from @bravit on @jetbrains blog

Yes, I admit, I have to seriously go through this because I still find learning Rust difficult.

If you have no plans yet for Thursday night and you happen to be around #Amsterdam, I'll be speaking about @biomejs at the #Rust #Meetup at the @jetbrains office: https://www.meetup.com/nl-NL/rust-amsterdam-group/events/304514267/

Maybe I'll see you there!

Hey les devs #Python, vous savez où on peut trouver PyCharm édition communautaire pour Mac ? Il semble introuvable sur le site de @jetbrains 🤔

My minimal LLM instructions. These are the current ones for @jetbrains IDEs with their in-IDE AI in particular.

LLMs overengineer so easily. They have verbal diarrhea so readily. They have comments like "set a to 1" for lines like "a = 1" all the time.

This prompt reins them in ... somewhat.
