I've heard and see a few points made about the community so I wanted to clear a couple of things up. I'm not looking to engage over this or debate over this. I made this community for myself primarily. If you enjoy it too, then that's awesome! But unlike /c/TenForward when I made the community with other moderators for a large userbase, I made /c/ITAP for myself and by myself.
This is a bastardization/perversion of the subreddit
This is not reddit. I am not beholden to reddit. What came before doesn't impact me here. I did not set up /c/TenForward to be a copy of /r/Risa or /c/Risa, I set it up to be its own thing. I set this up to be its own thing. Comparing it to reddit will not do anything to sway me in any direction when reddit is exactly what I ran from.
Why is it called I took a picture if it isn't OC?
It's a bit tongue in cheek but took does not have one meaning. Took can mean that you were the one who captured the image but it can also mean theft. I am a known content whore who has an endless amount of stuff saved and I post it all here on lemmy. The community name is just a joke about the variety of users who will save content to share for others while not having made that content themselves, covering both sides.
Why do you not respond to the comments asking where the source is?
I do to some of them. I post a lot and I end up with 30-60 notifications every few hours. A lot slip through the cracks. I also have a life. I already post quite a bit, I'm not going to always have the source for everything I post and I'm certainly not going to go looking for them all if I don't have it immediately available. Tineye and Google Reverse Image Search are a thing and have been for some time. I'm usually just using that in the first place in order to find the source someone asked me for.
That being said... I've added a new rule to the sidebar that i'll be following as well. I've edited some past posts to reflect it too. Hopefully that'll help clear up some confusion on that end.
Rule 4: Add OC or Not OC to the title.
If you have issues with the way this community is being run, feel free to find another community or set one up yourself.
