No Bloodborne yet!

So, I've been playing Pokémon emerald. I beat a gym leader and saved. I rebooted after the save and lost an hour of progress.

I progressed a bit more from that state, saves TWICE and now it reverted to before that.

Is this a ROM issue? Is this an sdcard issue? I'm playing in RA.

Uhh, turns out it was just my dumbass using the wrong card

So, some of the games I try fail to work. The result is it saying there is no lua to load and gives a gray screen, just wondering if this is a core or ROM issue. The game in question is Trial of the sorceror. The menus work but when I start a level the crash occurs

Device in question is a stock ambernic sp in case that changes anything

So, I'm trying to add more games to my sp and am wondering how boxart works. Is it the same as retroarch?

30

So, I want to add my own games to my sp running stock firmware and want to know if its possible to automate boxsrt scraping, o have had luck with the android build of retroarch getting boxart, does the Linux build do this too?

31

So, I'm going to install minui to my sp but the readme says that it needs to be installed "over a fresh copy of stock" what does that mean? Where do I find the stock image?

32

So, I'm getting a 35xxsp shipped, should be coming in a few weeks, I got an extra card to replace the stock one. Is cfw worth it? Is ambwrnic stock any good? I'd like your advice

This is a sad day. One of my favorite resources and communities is closing the doors as we know. No longer are new Romhack and mods accepted; the site becomes a News site. There was some drama going on. The site owner and leader put entire database and files to Archiveorg for preservation and download in one batch.

Read the message here: https://www.romhacking.net/news/3074/

Download the files here: https://archive.org/details/romhacking.net-20240801

Download as Torrent: https://archive.org/download/romhacking.net-20240801/romhacking.net-20240801_archive.torrent (official torrent file, I recommend this, as it is faster)

I want to buy an ambernic 35xxsp but the official website does not have the colour I want, if I got the color I wanted I'd have to pay way too much in shipping. I reside in the EU. What vendors are good?

Hello!

I'm buildiing an emulated Wii console thing (and I'm calling it the Uriine, because I'm a 12 year old at heart apparently)

I've got a mayflash dolphin bar, and it's working beautifully. I only have 1 working controller though, and would like to set up a DS5 as a secondary controller.

I have it mapped and 90% working, but it could be much better, and I'm hoping for some help getting this the rest of the way.

The issues I'm facing:

  1. I've got the pointer mapped to the right stick, but I would like to use the gyro for this. Gyro movement doesn't seem to be registered as a mappable axis though.

  2. Rumble motors aren't detected

  3. The DS5 has an onboard speaker like the wiimote, any way to use it as such?

I feel like most of this could be fixed with a good driver for the controller, but I can't find one.

Any help would be appreciated. Bonus points if you can tell me why I have to have the controller on before launching a title for it to be detected (any controller, not just the DS5)

So, box art wasn't a problem with vimm ROMs but I've had to migrate to myrient.

I use retroarch on android. How do I get boxart?

I am playing Iter Vehemens ad Necem, in short IVAN, on Winlator.

Is a ~25 years old rogue-like game that uses MIDI as background music. Sound efffects are instead wave files. MIDI files are just a series of notes a sound card plays back with its internal musical instruments, much like a digital music sheet. Modern audio cards no longer have true support for this now ancient audio format (still used to this day actually, but only on specific music production devices), and desktop systems can run software based MIDI emulators to still hear this sounds (modern Windows has one preinstalled that is invoked automatically when MIDI is played)

Sound effects work just fine, but there is no background music when running this game as it detects no MIDI devices. I need a way to get a software MIDI emulator running under Winlator, maybe even the default modern Windows one.

The github went down and I don't have it. Anyone can link a copy?

This is not a troll post and I hate nobody. (I know, the title may sound like it is.)

This year I got into Switch emulation for first time and finished Breath of the Wild with 130 hours on Yuzu, with 60 fps patch and higher resolution. Besides some control issues on very specific shrines, most of the time it was a smooth experience. I fully switched to Ryujinx after it and now started playing Tears of the Kingdom. Here are my issues with it after playing for over 10 hours on Ryujinx:

  • minor: distracting graphical issues all over the place on ground and walls texture corners, but I can live with that and its more or less depending on the angle and places
  • major: sometimes game freezes and crashes randomly on the overworld map
  • showstopper: could not progress any longer, on a specific mission where I had to use the camera it just didn't want to recognize the photo of the statue

I tried different Roms for the game, with and without mods, with and without different patches (1.0, 1.2.0, 1.2.1) and different settings on the emulator. Always same problems, nothing could resolve for me. Then I copied my save file to Yuzu and tried the game there. Results after playing game for 6 hours on it:

  • very minor: no longer those graphical issues, but light blinking issues when traveling, so much less distracting and less active
  • safe: no freezes happen anymore
  • progress: instant progress on the place with the photo, I could hear the audio that was missing on Ryujinx, I tried 10 different images on Ryujinx to do exact same photo but it did not work, it only works on Yuzu

My PC System:

  • OS: Linux
  • GPU: AMD 7600
  • CPU: AMD 7700X

Does anyone have similar experience? I searched lot, but could not find any other solution and gave up after days. Again, please this i not a war. I just share my experience. I play Super Mario Wonder on Ryujinx and its a perfect experience so far and want to keep using it as my main Switch emulator. I also like the fact that addons (patches, updates and mods) are not installed on the NAND, but I just point to the place where they are without installing.

Sharing this for those who've wanted to receive Ryujinx news in their RSS feed reader. I couldn't find an official RSS feed for Ryujinx anywhere online while hunting around. I asked the AI in Brave Search, and it somehow new the address to the RSS feed, which is https://blog.ryujinx.org/rss

So, i want to get a smaller handheld but am unsure which.

I want something pocketable but still bug enough for good controls (small, not micro)

Good controls

Can play up to at least some ps1

Good firmware (stock or otherwise)

Under 70 euros (the cheaper the better)

Am I asking too much out if a budget device?

Was looking at the 35xxsp

Like, is there any way for an emu to play with a separate device with the same ROM and emu?

I absolutely love MinUI on my RG35XXSP, but I hated that it turned the power LED off. Initially I tried to fiddle with just disabling the part of the MinUI boot that turned off the LED, but then I realized that putting the console to sleep and turning it back on disabled the LED anyway. That was baked into the OS, and I didn’t want to recompile the whole thing just to disable that.

Enter this tool. It contains a script that gets set to run during boot to turn on the power LED and keep it on. It can also undo all of its changes by running the tool again. Since it does modify system files, I also figured out how to recover from any potential issues. I was unable to cause any significant issues during my testing, but the recovery plan is there nonetheless. Full documentation is available on the repo.

Let there be light!
