The app is Clime Pro on iOS, they lock full access to Hurricane Milton data behind a $10 USD per week paywall.

If you’re in the area impacted by Milton, you can find publicly available resources at the National Hurricane Center’s website: National Hurricane Center

Purposefully deceitful toggle switch colours. Am I saving my preference to receive none, or to receive all? Found on clevertap.com's mailing list service.

Gift articles previously were accessible just with the link. The latest article I attempted to read now requires me to first sign up

edit

The article in question https://wapo.st/4fp62oH

I am well aware of many work arounds. The point of this post was to show wapo has changed the way gift articles work, which previously didn’t require a workaround

This is after forcing login to a store account:

At least they don’t hide in their ToS that:

“l agree to let Walmart monitor my use of Walmart WiFi, including to:

  • Determine my presence in Walmart stores
  • Associate information about me with my Walmart account
  • Improve products and services
  • Gather market insights about my in-store purchases and activities”

But that’s not enough, they need to monitor your internet activity further too.

For further reading, some greatest hits (the section headers on Wiki’s Criticism of Walmart):

  • Local communities
  • Allegations of predatory pricing and supplier issues
  • Labor relations
  • Poorly run and understaffed stores
  • No AEDs in stores (automated external defibrillators)
  • Imports and globalization
  • Product selection
  • Taxes
  • Animal welfare
  • Midtown Walmart
  • Opioids settlement

On mobile, it prompts you to either "get the app" or "open app" with no way to click past. Screenshot won't upload.

Not mine but this is actually what I did too.

I said I plan to charge back on my credit card. They threatened that if I did that, they can't promise my account wouldnt be flagged.

I said "bet" and they removed the cancellation fee and cancelled the service.

This document isn't changing every time I view it, but Google Sheets wants me to reload it each and every time I close my phone. Even if I'm in airplane mode it gives me this prompt, and of course just loads the same document.

What is it even doing when I hit the Reload button??

My HP All-In-One 20-c081nt has the processor Intel Core i3-6100U, which is supposed to not run hotter than 100C. On Windows if 100C is reached, the screen will fade out and PC will immediately shutdown. A warning will be shown at next boot. On Linux, seen in the video, the PC will simply keep running as if nothing has happened and show the thermal shutdown warning after a graceful reboot.

My grocery store wants to know my BMI

If they were interested in my location they could request location data. What are the odds they are doing this to directly market products to people based on health data?

Inb4 “They already do that based on what you regularly purchase”

Of course, yes they do. This appears to be one more layer on top of it. And surely they wouldn’t share that information with the pharmacy, right?

I was actually there because i was considering creating an account and wanted to check it out.

Then they pop one of those and lost me for ever!

And of course they want a credit card on file for "age verification" 😉 or they won't let you chat with the bots

And the label doesn't say anything about it, doesn't have the "don't throw in the trash" logo.

Those LEDs are glued in, there's no way to remove batteries before discarding the item

This battery lasts the life of the router under the operating environmental conditions specified for the router, and is not field-replaceable.

But who determines its lifespan?

Knowing there is a battery set to fail and I can't simply replace it makes me physically uncomfortable. Enough so that I'd rather it not have RTC.

Thanks Cisco.

I don’t know if this fits the community, but the way ads placement works can lead to some unfortunate results

Just looking for some cooking ideas, and I wish I could forget what I saw
