its an rpg xcom. its quite fun if you like the tactical battles of xcom with an actual story and gameplay beyond the battles themselves
I might come back to it, my biggest problem with it was that there is a bit too much grinding. Last I played parties scaled to the size of yours so you basically never get a quick fight unless you keep your party very small. It ends up being kinda tedious after a while which is why I set it down.
Next time you play it choose region locked exploration instead of free exploration or whatever it’s called. Absolutely hated the game at first because of what you said, then I started a new one but chose region locked and the game became a lot more fun because it actually felt like my party was getting stronger and fights weren’t so grind-y or sweaty
Quite fun. Scratched the xcom itch. Moderately deep systems. Too many unrefined crafting. I went back because the latest update introduced “end game” material. It’s very solid. I put 100+ hours in. A-
I've heard good things, compared to/ similar in vein to battle brothers if you're familiar to that game. But I haven't played it myself
