Quaint rhyme from better times. Boss is making $34 for my dime today.

"Boss makes a 20, I make a buck. Now I smoke crack in the company truck"

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 year ago

It wouldn't be so bad if it were only a 20x difference. It is more like a 5000x difference. 🥲

Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime,

that was a poem from a simpler time.

Boss makes a dollar, we don't make jack,

that's why we fight to take the means back!

Boss makes a million, I make a buck That’s why we steal the catalytic converter off the company truck

i love WFH because i can wake up feeling like shit and log on immediately to start the clock instead of waking up on my own time and giving my peak hours to the capitalists

No commute though so at least you're not crying in the car while stuck in traffic.

Do you really win if capitalism dictates when you should feel / cry?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

But they don't dictate it. They win if you cry only when it doesn't affect them

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They do. The capitalistic grind makes you think it's more worthwhile to cry while making money, rather than cry when you needed to.

Either way you can produce a strong argument they're influencing when you cry so by your logic they've already won. Your lost agency has jack shit to do with whether you cry or not so let them cry.

It's not about whether you cry or not but rather about when you cry. It's also not so much about if you win or lose in a black and white sense but how much more are you prepared to lose.

Anyways, this is a matter of perspective and probably not the right sub to discuss this lol.

If I can be less productive at work and get paid to cry, then that's a double win on the capitalists

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

But they get you to cry on their terms. How much is agency worth as a human being - more or less than the hourly wage?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

On their terms? The capitalists don't want you to cry while you're supposed to be working. Crying on their terms would be crying outside of work.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago

Yet capitalism is ingrained enough for you to think that's the best option, instead of what you need / want it's whatever that makes you the most money. So it's a win for capitalism in the sense that you are the capitalist first, and human second.

I work weekends so I'll be sad if I want to. My Mondays are pretty chill. All you people who do a single damn thing on the weekend that requires anyone at all to work can shut the hell up about it too.
