Fine. I'll beat this dragon. I've already tried enough times might as well finish it.
Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes
This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".
Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.
Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:
[BB] This enemy is so difficult!
or
[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

CURSE YOU BAYLE
Fine, I'll use a sword. I've already failed at magic enough times I may as well forget about it.
Holy shit I can just cut these fuckers down. Why was I wasting blue bar on Glintstone Pebble when I could have been using Square Up.
Lordsworn's Longsword, u my only friend.
I like having both options. And even if you're a pure spellcaster, there are spells like Carian Slicer that are basically a weapon made of magic
Dang yo, I suck at Elden Ring without me spells and incantations.
Ancient Dragons Lightning is a little too strong on big bosses
That's me after playing Prisioner for hours, after locking out too many sidequest because Miyazaki hates me I created a new char.
Lvl 1 naked with my big ass club until I got the Erdsteel Dagger. This baby slice anything.
I love Souls-talk
I got the first Dark Souls because it was touted as being super hard and shit, and from watching some videos I came to the conclusion that it was just pattern recognition and not actually that hard.
Which is kinda true, but at the same time the speed of the game does a lot of heavy lifting and the usage of old school game design (like NES era stuff) that was once only there to make a short game longer being used to make exploration even better without just giving you flashy stuff every few feet makes it so much better than I expected it to be.
Like I went from thinking it can't be that awesome to it becoming my favorite modern genre. 🤣
Dude, frr
