TL;DR: Jenny the Boykin spaniel helps search for ornate box turtles at the Conservancy’s Nachusa Grasslands Preserve in Central Illinois. The dogs find more turtles in 2-3 hours than humans would in a week. The dogs are very gentle, and they carry the turtles without injuring them. The turtles are tracked and tested for preservation purposes.

I found a box tortoise when I was a child and brought it to show and tell. Teacher apparently freaked out my mom about how bad it was that I put it in a box and we took it somewhere like this lol.
