News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

MODERATORS

First of all, Welcome! I'm genuinely glad you decided to join!

That said,

Swearing on Lemmy is actually mandatory and any posts found not containing any swearwords will be promptly removed and you will be permanently banned. These communities strive to reverse the damage done by algorithmically induced self censorship by requiring all participants to swear as much as possible.

Also, anyone censoring non swearwords like "dead" or "sex" that traditionally incur negative algorithmic interactions will also be sacked in addition to previously listed repercussions.

Thank you.

Fuck.

I'm so fucking safe from this rule. I swear like a fucking sailor. Maybe because I used to fucking be one. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yk i was insanely sceptical regarding the whole “but it probably has like fuckall users” part of Lemmy, but it feels miles less pretentious and inauthentic than reddit ever did. Wild how much more pleasant it is.

My main hopes for Lemmy really are that we manage to get a large enough userbase that more niche things arent excluded and forced to go to reddit, and that is isnt censored.

As much as i dont like some viewpoints from some groups (like the people supporting russia in ukraine, trump supporters, general trolls), i think censorship is more damaging than productive. I just hope that we can have nice things and it doesnt turn into a cesspool of either the far left or far right circlejerking eachother.

I doubt we'd ever have censorship here on Lemmy based on my understanding on how it works. If one instance starts censoring, people would just move to/make a new instance which is all still connected.

Unless I'm fucking misinformed?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 hours ago

Yeah no youre right. Theres still the chance of the major instance that everyone is using being censored but ig thatd be a temporary problem.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 hours ago

that is my understanding as well

Can I say "I hope Elon Musk dies and I can have sex with his corpse"?

If the saying "tell me who your friends are..." holds true, it's probably some horrible dipshit millionaire. I get it, smashable silver daddy, but ugh.

Its never about the pleasure, its about the desecration. Alright, sometimes the pleasure. Tag team with Luigi though?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 21 hours ago

You could send different stuffed pieces of his body to his baby mommas. At least he would show up then.

Oh god. If I have to keep reading “unalive”…. fuck that dude. That starting popping up on reddit a lot out of nowhere.

Algospeak... changing the words to appease the almighty Algoritmo.
~~Thank~~ Fuck you TikTok and Youtube for that phenomenon.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 hour ago

Good God do I fucking hate the lobotomisation of our language to please algorithms that were made to please advertisers. The world is messy and gross if you want real people talking about the real world don't fucking try to hamfistedly sanitise everything they say.

The goomba labeled “koopa” is bothering me

[–] [email protected] 1 points 43 minutes ago

Cuz he's a koopa troopa, beams are gonna find him, but I won't feel blue, like I always do, cuz somewhere in the crowd is Lu(igi)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (1 children)

I think it’s because the world “police” or “swat” has been replaced with “koopa”.
