Still waiting for 75% off to play the base game

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I mean, cool, but the game in its current state is definitely already worth the price at the 50% discount that is regularly seen, so it seems pretty arbitrary.

[–] lowleveldata 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I've seen Witcher 3 at 75% off multiple times. Shouldn't be too long to wait at this point.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ok. Witcher 3 is 8 years old.

[–] lowleveldata 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It was 70% off at 2019, 4 years after release, according to steamdb. Cyberpunk is almost 3 years old now.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So you still haven't bought it? You said 75.

My point is you picked an arbitrary number. :)

[–] lowleveldata 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I said 75 because that's the lowest that I know CDPR would do. I'm waiting for that so I can pretend I only played it because it's at the lowest possible price instead of I liked the anime so much that I changed my opinion of boycotting the game.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Ah, there it is. Boycott. Well yeah, ok.

Cyberpunk was always a shit show on console and fine on PC. I played on the latter from day 1, and it was a great game. But completely understand that the console situation was unacceptable and the need to show the company that by voting with one's wallet.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Shoulda bought when it was a broken mess. Bestbuy was clearing out the console editions.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You could buy it for a crisp 10 when the shit show was at an all time high.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I got it for $10 with the steel book.

Played some after 1.5, will start over once 2.0 and Phantom Liberty come out.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I got the PS4 disc for like 15€ new

Vehicle missions and airdrops – endless dynamic events

I have never liked this in any game ever. Just map and notification bloat.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

You already can filter out the ones you don't care for.

Guess I’ll stop my current playthrough since everything is getting revamped. I want to re-experience it with a fresh character.

But what to do? Street samurai? Knife throwing one hit kill ninja? Master of explosions? Puncher of faces, exploder of heads? Netrunner 2.0?

The possibilities are… well, not endless, but abundant. The only gripe is that no matter what you need to spec into Technical Ability to be able to craft/upgrade the best gear. Making it pretty much mandatory if you’re minmaxing damage (to my knowledge there is no vendor that can do it for you if you lack the skills) makes it so that 14-17 points of your character are going into that stat no matter what.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If you're minmaxing elsewhere there's no practical need to craft as at higher levels you're an unstoppable killing machine anyway.

...what does annoy me (dunno whether it changed after the patch) is that things like legendary sandevistan heatsinks are only available via crafting. Such things should be available (at stellar prices) from shady dealers at high enough stats and street cred. Or via a particular mission path that really caters into the playstyle and is practically impossible otherwise. Trap gauntlet only survivable if you're basically teleporting?

I've never used sandy, but now I'm annoyed, too.

Actually, the whole idea of crafting annoys me, especially how it's implemented in CP2077. I can suspend my disbelief for a while, and accept quickhacking as advanced tech, no problem. But dismantling an ashtray, a pack of condoms and a shotgun, and turning the parts into a leather jacket, while sitting on my bike in the middle of a highway? CDPR, you owe me an explanation.

Such things should be available (at stellar prices) from shady dealers at high enough stats and street cred.

This is the way. I wouldn't be sad, if this was the only way. It just doesn't make sense, that some pampered corporat learns, in a matter of days, the skills to build smart rifles and kevlar vests. There apparently are people in NC, who make a living as techie. How is that possible, if acquiring the skills is so easy? Same goes for every smith in Skyrim, etc.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’ve never used sandy,

You absolutely should. Reflexes+blades is the usual option, flanked by body and cold blood. Even without the legendary heatsinks you can spend more time inside bullet time than outside, at low levels that's going to result in a lot of "run in, slash stuff, run to cover before sandy runs out to recharge it" but then there's also camouflage and your slashing is going to become ever more effective and body is going to make you a bullet sponge so at some point it just ceases to matter whether people have a chance hitting you once in a while.

Gun builds are problematic because bullet time slows down shooting frequency (it doesn't do that with melee) but I've seen people do comrade hammer's builds. If you want maximum damage output for crowd control at decent range there's monowire which uses the same skill tree as katanas. The katana is to avoid excessive collateral damage as well as for style, and then of course knife headshots.

I just might, maybe after I finish the current playthrough. Collecting achievements is a job for plague runner.

Although I probably should play it once before the update hits. Then I can join the complain-train, when the new mechanics ruin everything /s

While I'm glad they're dropping their own engine for the Unreal Engine (for future games) it's really a shame they spent so much time on REDengine4. It had some great potential, it was just too troublesome to work with, I guess.

Excited to see what they're working on for future games. I hope they're not completely abandoning the Cyberpunk universe.

I will play the expansion though, probably on a fresh character.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm so excited to finally play this game without feeling like I'm missing out on future gameplay updates

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

yeah this is such a thing. I don't want to replay a 40-80 hour game to access 15 hours of new content interwoven or not even that just new features on the way. I feel CyberPunk getting abandoned is actually just a weird new-speak for it being ACTUALLY finished

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I'm always saying the best time to play a game is 3 years after release.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

No mention of the main storyline ending? Booo
