I don't think it is purely recency bias when I say Oshi no Ko.
I also remember revenge being a recurring theme in Naruto, but I would be hesitant to call it a revenge anime.

Kill la Kill
Moral of the story: revenge (and war) is no good.
Forgot about this,

Because S2 is the opposite of a revenge anime

I hate my brain that this was the first series I thought of. I haven't watched the anime, but have read a portion of the manga.
The 1986 Fist Of The Northstar animated movie.
Kenshiro gets his girl Julia taken from him, gets beaten up and thrown down a canyon for good measure.
He recovers, fights his way through hordes of mutant bikers, multiple bosses, to a climactic battle against his rival that basically levels the city.
Then wandering through the desert, he suddenly lifts his head up, opens his eyes and remembers "(Oh yeah) Julia..."
It has been a while since I watched it so I'm not really sure how well it holds up but I remember 91 Days being pretty dope. It's a mafia story about MC infiltrating a group responsible for the death of his family, set during the prohibition era in the US. It's a short watch (12 episodes or so) too.
