I used this guide for a nvidia shield to de-bloat the OS. You may be able to follow the de-bloat instructions here for any other android device.

Some Rules

Interesting. I scrolled through the guide and one thing that was unclear is where does the adb.exe file come from?
We have a Shield Pro and unfortunately flashing wasn't an option of us. What we did was start using an "alternative" launcher called Projectivy and installing apps outside the Play store.
Casting isn't possible too, we simply learned to live without it. It seems you can use it on Kodi but I never really tried.
I have a PC connected to my TV. Don't use Android TV at all.
Some Nuc mi i PCs even support CEC so they turn on with the TV remote.
