Cockroach
What's this Bug?
A community for insect, arachnid, myriapod and general bug identification!
Specifically a German cockroach, the infesting kind. Not because it's in Germany that's just what they're called. Kill them all immediately.
Looks like a cricket to me.
Literally a German (or "tawny") cockroach. 😶
Ok, new rabbit hole for me.
It could be one of these two:

or
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_cockroach
I hope it's not the latter.
here a comparison of the head section
Left: Ectobius Vittiventris, Right: German Cockroach
I'm not sure if there are those stripes on my picture or if they are just shadows.
Smart money's on the former being a cover story for the latter to establish itself in the home... 😵💫
In short: kill 'em all. The former's gonna die anyhow, but the latter is looking to plaster your subfloors and similar with eggs. 😬
The stripes would be very prominent and more in the middle of its head
Thanks. That'll let me sleep tonight ^^
Anyway, I will take a closer look on one of the bigger guys, if I see any.
The one featured in the picture seems like a "Bernstein Waldschabe". Just a harmless little friend that gets trapped inside sometimes. No killing (and no panic) required A Deutsche Schabe has black stripes on its head
Well... would you consider those as stripes or just shadows?
I wouldn't consider those as stripes, there are many pictures showing a comparison, I'd think those slightly darker areas are shadows. The stripes that mark a cockroach are really dark and distinctive, way more 'stripey' - maybe look for a photo from directly above to compare it with yours. The one on your picture looks harmless to me. They like to eat leaves and will die of hunger inside of the house
I only found one inside. Hope little leaf eater is alright.
Thanks for the infos. I never had to deal with cockroaches before. Glad I'm on the safe side.
i didnt know about them aswell untill last year. this year the populationnof those exploded. with current global change we can find a new kind of insect every year now.
