Those losers, with their social lives and hobbies. I bet they're real jealous of Anon.

Sounds like they’re not doing their work during the week and letting it pile up, then doing it on the weekend and somehow that gets them promoted? I don’t really get it.

If I could fit five days work into two days and have it fly under the radar, I'd do exactly the same.

haha fair

I just didn't get why he got promoted for it... I guess because they thought he was working super hard every weekend plus during the week?

He actually finished his work, probably like 30% of office workers dont/are garbage

I feel like the system really beat Anon here...

This smells like executive propaganda

I have coworkers like this and they are total losers with no life

I might have been like this in the past but only because I was gaslit to believe that it would pay off.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah if you are doing this today you are a fucking idiot lol. It kind of used to pay off, at least here in Canada 20 years ago

it worked for me until i moved to Germany. If i get more shit done, i just get more shit to do and the expectations rise without the salaries rising to match, then i have a break down and lash out one year later in one of the meetings to everyone's suprise and feel like an asshole.

I also learned the hard way that it it reckless and irresponsible to give anything but the bare minimum.

I feel like people misunderstood what anon was trying to say. He doesnt mean work 7 days a week. He says pile up work, and then work weekends. So do minimum amount of work or no work on monday to friday, and then finish work on weekends. That makes it look like you are a dedicated worker who works on every weekend, when in actuality you are working less overall. I think thats the exploit anon was talking about.

[–] hellishharlot 5 points 1 year ago

Sure but you still have to be present m-f so why not just try and fix things

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Yeah I'm sure you earn six figures. Unless you live in Venezuela no one is earning six figures on a project management position.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Probably a lot of people in software, finance, consultancy etc. since six figures is only 100,000.

I kinda get it. I get interrupted by so much random bullshit during the work week, focusing on projects is hard. Much easier to browse social media at work, respond to email, get out occasionally to do chores, etc. Some light productivity, but deeper concentration is hard.

Friday is usually my go-to project day. People tend to leave me alone enough so I can actually dig in. I'm content with my current situation so I don't feel a need to work on weekends, but I can totally see how that might be more enjoyable. Not working the entire weekend, just a few hours on Saturday morning where no one will fucking bother me. Could probably get so much more shit done in way less time.

I argued for months to get a work from home day on Wednesdays specifically so I have a day of zero interruptions. It's been lovely!
