I'm glad this Reddit blackout finally inspired me to make a Lemmy account. I already like it enough that I may or may not even go back to Reddit. Yarrr!

Reddit has been weird with comments, and formatting for me. I can actually copy and paste here without my comment getting kneecaped. :O

Honestly hoping that Reddit does nothing so we can build a better commnuity here

Bravo to you. This was absolutely the right call and I hope you let it rot if there isn't a massive change of direction. Frankly, for me, even if they do roll things back I am still done with them. P2P is how the internet should be (funny considering torrenting has been a thing for how long now?) and thankfully we have guys like you to step up and help get this off the ground. Thanks!

Noice, full blackout is the right choice

Respect. Decentralization fits perfect with piracy anyhow.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago

Thanks for linking to Lemmy. Not enough of the protest private pages did so.

Im prolly gonna stick to Lemmy even if Reddit magically apologizes and gives us each a free cookie. Much better comment interface, and it's not Reddit. :3

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

ye I'm also got used to it quite nicely.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I love Reddit, But plan on using Lemmy now too. Doesn't seem too bad.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I know, right? For me it's a drop in replacement. All that's required is for the people to stick around.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

corporate bastards

Hypothetically speaking, if this instance gets taken down would it be possible for the admin to recover the data and respawn it on a new instance?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

Always good to see this pop in here. I'm already liking Lemmy much better so far too.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

Here and reporting for pirate duty.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Let's hope this makes Reddit change their minds, which I doubt so we might settle here. Can I get mod access here by the way?

What's going on? Why was it privated? Was everything archived? Where can I see old posts?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Where's the archive? Wouldn't restricting submissions be enough?

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 year ago

No, it's a full blackout.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Nah, fuck em, nuke it all, don't even give reddit the traffic from our old data. I deleted all my old comments and posts.
