You linked to the wrong playstore app.

Also this is probably a fork of the "simple mobile tools" and I would strongly recommend using the Fossify forks available on F-Droid: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.fossify.filemanager/

Fixed it thank you.

I don't think this is a fork

"Simple" is misleading, as that's also the branding of a suite of mobile apps (that were bought out and turned into data-harvesting/advertising tools).

Also this isn't a file manager, it's a password manager. Although the same dev also makes a file manager.

Note that this is not related to the "Simple" suite of apps that got bought out by an adware company. There are a few apps on F-Droid that use the term "simple" despite not being connected to the "Simple" suite.

Wasnt the entire simple suite bought out by a company?

yes, the dev sold out

EDIT: this one seems to be something different, the title is misleading

Something isn't right. Those links are different. That github page is not for the google play app.

UPDATE! This comment is no longer relevant now OP has updated link to app.

Warning: Simple Mobile Tools sold to controversial ZipoApps publisher - via Ghacks

Ty for the suggestion op. Looks promising. Hope the dev can put it on F droid.
