Shidou Itsuka has a problem. The world has been racked by massive quakes of an unknown source for years now, though life goes on. Then one day, Shidou's calm life ends forever when in the middle of a quake in his city, he meets a girl who's apparently a spirit-and the cause of all the destruction! When a team arrives to eliminate the threat, Shidou becomes embroiled in a war to protect these spirits-by making them fall in love with him?!

I watch this series since season 1 aired. It might not be perfect but I still always look forward for more

I haven't seen Date a Live, what do you like about it? I've seen the red goth lolita girl in fan art, and the title sounds familiar, it seems to get referenced a lot over the years. If they're up to season 5 there must be something special about it huh?

I have only seen the first season. I went in knowing as much about the series as you, being aware that it is a popular franchise but knowing nothing else.

I had my expectations pretty low when I started the first episode. The turning point for me was at the end of the episode when one of the main characters says "Baka, baka" after something completely stupid and ridiculous happens, that's when my brain went "Oh it is OK to laugh at this, they are just being silly in this show."

Then the rest of the season was a goofy ride full of anime harem shenanigans. On a technical level, DAL isn't really special, though the characters, character designs, absurdity of the setting and the OVA punch above their weight.

I checked out the first episode. It's unabashedly degenerate, and over the top. It's a great start 😆

The first seasons were perfect for the 14 year old me -lots of fan service, harem setting, dirty jokes ect. That's what got me into it. Since then I always watch new seasons when they come out. I don't know if it's because of nostalgia or because every character is very refined (even the MC) but I always enjoy it. The story is also progressing and is getting darker (at least every time Kurumi the ~~best~~ goth girl appears), which keeps it interesting.
