Woke up ridiculously early this morning, so decided to take a walk before sunrise. Saw (and heard) many sprinklers going. That was around 5am--and the rain started about 3 hours later.

You can probably leave 'em off for another week or so, too.

When I moved into my house the sprinkler controller was positioned to be directly in afternoon sun. The display was shot. So I re routed the lines inside the garage and installed a smart sprinkler controller which has access to look up the weather. It automatically disables when it’s raining.

The city will reimburse you for a portion of the cost too so it could be a cheap option for many.
