I remember forensic scientists laughing about the idea of burning off your finger prints, because they would just look at it and think, oh yeah, it's the guy with a huge recognizable burn mark on his fingers

it seems to really only make sense if you want to disassociate yourself with the data they already have on you, not with the data they will gather on this new you
