Thank you for pointing this out. It was the first thought that came to my mind.

I have no idea when the last real election was. But it certainly hasn’t been in the last decade or two. Social media is too strong of a platform for propaganda. I think there are exceedingly few people now with an accurate understanding of modern political parties, affiliations, etc.

Plus, there’s waaaay too much money in politics. Votes are bought

This is misleading. It's still a real election if people are being convinced to vote against their interests, assuming they aren't being coerced.

Stupidity is inherent in all democracies.
