Last time I had a pi-hole running it didn't effect YouTube ads and was known not to as pi-hole works at the DNS layer but YouTube ads are served from the same DNS endpoint.

I feel like this is something mass reportable. At least I will start, hopefully a mod can chime in on if this is tolerated.

Not the same person but a lot of the GUI things are going to be more of the same and won't really capture the Linux "vibe". If you want to get more nerdy about it I would recommend checking out something like the cmus music player. It's terminal based and if you can get the hang of it, it will give you more of a feel for what people love about Linux. After you get it installed you can try running these commands from the command line to get started: man cmus-tutiorial & man cmus.

My take: Linux users (including myself) are biased. While we would love to share our enthusiasm for Linux with others the simple truth is NO, you cannot just use Linux in the same way you would use Windows. We would argue the Linux way is just as easy not easier in a lot of ways. But it is a different system with a different way of doing things and if you are not prepared to learn anything new then it will bite you eventually.

And you can't use MS Office natively either. And no, Office 365 is not exactly equivalent nor is LibreOffice.

That being said I haven't used Windows outside of work in years and if you're interested and have some kind of technical knowledge or interest I would highly recommend it. It usually takes a couple of attempts before it "sticks".

I just had a horrible vision of a dialog box popping up asking for +x permission ร  la Vista era UAC.

We've got to celebrate the small wins and hope it doesn't end here.

Does this title sound stupid to anyone else or just me? Like... the jobless rate is defined by unemployment.. so what else would be keeping it at 20%? It's not really saying anything at all.

Android would call it tactile feedback. Apple would call it ProSense 3D.

That's definitely a real problem that would need to be considered. I'm sure it has been in great length. My gut feeling says it's workable though and the problem being more political than technical.

Would they need all those resources dedicated to just one company? I feel like they wouldn't have spent anywhere near $4.3B. Considering the investigation was started in 2021 so let's say 2 years or $3B. It seems extremely unlikely and even more than 1 order of magnitude off.

Either that or a literal Excel spreadsheet.

Oh yeah it's undoubtedly an advancement but as you said, to fire someone over that is an overreaction and that's putting it generously.

I understand taking some form of action if there was evidence of something potentially catastrophic, or at least 1 step removed from that. Do they have public guidelines on where they draw the line? What's the procedure that says "at this point we pull the plug?". I highly doubt it says "when it can do basic math".
