It's not the top level directory. I do have some other stuff on /data. 😂

When do I shut down?

When the power goes out and my UPS battery drains.
When I do a hardware upgrade.
If I want to rearrange equipment, and also when I moved this past summer.

That's seriously about it.

Maybe this is not the precise purview of this sub, but is there a way, in software, to cause a headcrash on an array of HDDs if you needed to destroy a hoard imminently? in c/[email protected]

Full disk encryption is the only way. Some action that forces the disks to unmount and wipes the keys from RAM. Could be as simple as a forced reboot depending on how you set things up...
