I'm currently looking for another controller for the deck. Reddit threads and some articles usually mention Dualsense, Dualshock4, 8bitdo Ultimate and XBox controllers.

I want one with a trackpad this time because I miss it for point and click games and the PS controllers seem to be fitting, but I'd prefer the buttons to have ABXY, in the XBox ordering. Are there controllers where the trackpad has feedback like the deck has?

There are plenty offbrand controllers out there, are you using any of them and what's your experience with them?

I got the BT 8bitdo ult, some cheap Switch controller and 2 old Xbox "The Duke" so far, for references.

You can try and find an old steam controller maybe? I have one when they went on sale for dirt cheap before they discontinued manufacturing. The trackpads do have feedback like the deck but not not as good (it was the precursor after all)

They really need to release a new version.

Or heck just another run of the original.

So true. Got the SC and the Link, both awesome pieces of kit. The SC had a bit of a learning curve but if you stuck with it, it was worth all the effort and then some. Making your own control scheme was almost like a little mini game. I really miss those huge track pads now that I'm on the Deck, it's just not quite the same.

I regret not buying one back then, they are currently going for 100+ dollars. It is wild how expensive they are but I have heard they are very good.

I have 2 - one from when they first came out, and a backup I got when I first heard of the discontinuation.

Still my favorite controller of all time. If you like the Steam Deck's track pads, then the Steam Controller is a godsend.

If you're wondering if they're worth $100+, I'd say absolutely - but I'm obviously biased as I like them so much.

They were $5 each when discontinued -- I bought 2 more then (which iirc was the limit per person). That said, I'm frankly never reselling mine. It took me 20 years to find a controller that let me play strategy from the couch comfortably, and I need to maintain at least one working one indefinitely (until there's another good option).

So, I totally get why they're pricey now. Is it worth it? There's literally no alternative, so in that sense, I guess yes.

I absolutely love the steam deck track pads and gyro. Its good to know that people out there don't think 100+ is out of bounds for value, but it might still be a little out of my price range for what I'm willing to spend on a peripheral.

I've been lucky, found a cheap one nearby and got it, I like the pad a lot! It'll take some time to get used to the low position of the abyx buttons and the lacking second joycon, but once I get it I'm set.

Didn't get it to work with Bluetooth yet, guess I have to update the controller firmware, but it's fine with cable.

Nice! The low abxy is tricky. Personally I don't use mine much, but it's such a unique design that when they were discontinuing it I had to pick one up.

See if you can get your hands on an old steam controller. I use mine almost exclusively now. Finished the whole master chief collection on it. You can only get them 2nd hand now. They came out before their time.

I've got two PDP X-Box controllers and a Power A X-Box controller. I got them from the Wal-Mart clearance rack, presumably returns. They all work great.

Gulikit kk 2 pro and Vader 3 Pro

No hall sensor sticks at this point is just wasteful

I use 8Bitdo Ultimate works great for me

With switch emulation I just use my joycons they connect pretty easily 👍

I just got one of these and it works quiet nicely.

I got a bunch of stadia controllers for free, and they're very ergonomic and work well with the deck. They don't have gyro/back buttons, but you can buy them for super cheap on eBay and they're a much more premium controller than other controllers in that price range. You may have to do the firmware update yourself to enable Bluetooth if the seller hasn't already done it.
