How stable was beta 2? I’m toying with installing it on my phone but only if it’s not too janky.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

I’m shocked how stable it was to the point I forgot I was running it. Never encountered any issues.

I have only had minor graphical glitches running iOS 17 dev beta 2. Like always though, it can be a crapshoot and you want a backup plan in case things go awry.

Expect some graphical glitches and more battery drain than normal. It’s mostly fine this early on but make a backup to be sure,

Visual voicemail is pretty glitchy, sms syncing isn’t backwards compatible with iOS 16, but otherwise no issues

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Is that because of the new call screening feature?

[–] monad 1 points 1 year ago

Yes that's what I'm talking about, it's a new feature though so it doesn't matter too much that it's buggy. For instance it will make a chime when someone starts a voicemail even if your phone is set to silent.

I’ve been on 17 since Beta 1 and this has been by far the smoothest beta series I’ve ever used. 1 was great, 2 had a few graphical glitches but was still pretty smooth… just downloaded 3 and am so far not seeing anything noteworthy as far as bugs. Everything seems snappy as ever.

At this point I may have a better experience on the betas and will probably install on my iPhone. Ios 16 is pretty buggy (I have audio randomly crash or widgets disappear with only reboots fixing then)

Also the public beta is probably around the corner now

Man I hope Apple Music is fixed. On beta 2 I would be listening to an album , decide to listen to something else , go to the new album and hit play. Then the rest of the previous album would be added to up next so I would get the song I was listening to then it would go back to what I was listening to before.

Is the iPadOS beta stable as well? I assume most people here are talking about iOS.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Yes definitely. Maybe even more so than iOS.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

No issues running it on mine.

Went to update my iPhone and it says I need to remove apps in order to install it despite having 28GB free. Not sure why.

Edit: Restarting the phone fixed the issue.

I had to do a double take, I read that as Sodoma.

Up next, macOS Gomorrah

How's battery live on ios17 beta? Thinking of installing when the public beta drops.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

It's been fine for me (14 pro max). Worse on install day, then I reboot, then it's normal

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

IOS 17 Beta is by far the best of the early betas the last years even my banking apps are working fine. This was not the case with IOS 14,15,16 Betas.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Banking apps are what's kept me off the iOS beta so far. They usually just refuse to launch if it's an unreleased iOS version. I've no idea what additional security they think that provides, but they do it anyway.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My banking apps work just fine and refused it the last years so give it a try!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Might be specific to their bank. I haven't had trouble either.

Thanks I missed this today!
