~~We're gonna see a lot of stupid decisions being made…~~

As per @[email protected]'s comment, Apple might have thought ahead and implemented something in visionOS to prevent stupidity like this.

A few problems with this:

  • THIS THING ONLY HAS TWO FUCKING HOURS OF BATTERY!!! THE PASSTHROUGH IS POWERED BY CAMERAS, SO IF IT SHUTS DOWN, YOU ARE FUCKING DRIVING BLIND!!!

  • Distracted driving. Yeah, not too smart to watch “Prehistoric Planet” on Apple TV while driving.

  • FOV issues(?). I am guessing the FOV on an XR headset is going to be lower than your actual eyes. This can cause you to crash into something be cause you didn’t see it with your peripheral vision.

There's no way I see this even being a remotely good idea for reasons you mentioned and other reasons.

Sadly, I don't think it'll stop people from doing stupid shit though.

Yep, probably will be on the news sometime in 2024. “Driver dies in horrific car crash while wearing a Vision Pro”
