Data Hoarder

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

Hello,

I have a small online business with my girlfriend, we work from two laptops.

Problem: some data of the business is on her laptop, other data is on my laptop. There is no backup of these.

We would like to have all (or part of) the company material in one place, so that if I edit something, she can see it immediately. Now it's chaos, mess between folders and we can't even see each other's data.

Besides, we should have a backup of the whole shared access file.

Currently we have about 2 TB of enterprise data, most of it video, this number will grow in the future

We edit and render the videos. After rendering, we delete the raw video files and leave the finished version, but it's a big size. Video editing is ad hoc, we usually edit 5-10 videos a month over a few days, so it doesn't happen every day.

The rest of the month we work with images, word, xls, etc. documents, watch saved videos on the computer, etc.

We tried using pCloud as a virtual cloud drive that we both have access to, but:

- Uploading 10-30 gb video files and editing them there proved slow (uploads often 2 mb/s, even though we have fast internet)

- there is sensitive data, I don't know if it should be stored there

- from this virtual drive we should even have at least 2 backups automatically to an external drive and say to another cloud, we don't know how.

We also thought about not putting the edited videos on the pcloud driver, only on kulon vinyora, but then the system would fall apart again, everything would not be in one place.

Do you have any good ideas?

Thanks

DHer favorite, get a NAS (DIY or Synology)! And a cloud for encrypted off-site backups.
